Nice pic, but is the Dr. Pepper can sitting on the table an objective? |

Dr. Pepper was a Nazi scientist? |

Is it just me, or do the lined up rows of tanks look strange? I cannot get over that in every FOW game I see. |

"Is it just me, or do the lined up rows of tanks look strange?" It's not just you, but it's not just FoW-- I saw it in almost every Battlefront WW II (no relation) game I saw up at Fall In. And in a number of other WW II games as well. And I Did NOT see it in any of the FW tournament games I observed at the same con, so it isn't always the case in that game either. |

Aren't you familiar with any of the great WWII tank charges where the tanks lined up track to track and crushed all opposition? You are aware that they armed the first two ranks of tanks with armored lances so they could smash their way through the solid squares of enemy vehicles aren't you? Some people really need to read a history book.

ARRGH! I was going to post on the Dr. Pepper can as well! Murphyyyy!!!!!!!! :0 |

Yes, the wall to wall tanks that I see in many FoW games is a real turn off for me. I bet that they even use the dreaded Wedge Formation which defeats all in melee. Imagine that: tanks in melee, a new version of Demolition Derby. |

And, of course, if you don't KNOW where the shop is then you they don't want you to stop by. I mean EVERYBODY who's ANYBODY knows. |

Actually that tactic only works if there aren't good area weapons (like artillery or heavy mortars) on the other side so I suspect a more realistic OB might be in order. It does happen in tournies (I got swarmed by Stuarts at Fall In this year) but even he only did it when he was in among my tanks preventing me from dropping artillery. |

There's absolutely nothing in the game that rewards that kind of thing. The blame starts and ends entirely with gamers. The above applies equally to both lining tanks up and placing half filled soda bottles on the gaming surface. |

Ummmm
it's a "Tanksgiving" event. That's the way these games are *supposed* to turn out. Allen |

Seems no one has really read the title or text regarding the event

Ummmm
it's a "Tanksgiving" event. That's the way these games are *supposed* to turn out. Really? The goal of FOW games is to capture the Dr. Pepper can? Seems nobody has really read the responses carefully. The comments about hub to hub tanks are statements about FOW games appearances in general. Not about this specific event. Seriously, I hope they enjoy their event. Although if they used microarmor they could cram even more tank goodness on their table. |

It really is a crowded battlespace, I never seen the like in real life. Without being critical, I must say that the game would be more exciting with a quarter of the tanks. |

I saw that at Fall-In also. I was not aware that they were using Battlefront. Was never a fan of those rules. |

Once again we want to thank Murphy for his observation of the Dr Pepper can in the foreground of a picture that obviously wasn't staged. I assure you we will have an RC and moon pie on our next pic. The tanks in the foreground were mostly early Italian and not very powerful nor reliable. They did do some damage to their British counterpart, who decided if they could do it, so could he. FOW is objective driven, and not necessarily a historical game system. FOW has awarded us in increased wargame participation in our town. Many have not played wargames before on a large scale and have to learn there are things you just don't do on the battle field (ie. wedge formations, battlelines of tanks, demolition derbies, putting lances on the fronts of tanks, etc.) There are also command radius restrictions on some armies too. On a personal note, I don't appreciate being referred to as a nerd, and I don't appreciate my friends being called that either. I am available for discussion anytime about this matter, nuff said. FOW, though not perfect, is easy to play and at least we are out gaming. You can always come up with your own rules. |
