I always liked this monster, in spite of its relatively high turret-to-hull size ratio. |

So have I. I've always wondered if there were certain firing attitude restrictions, such as "Don't fire to the uphill side of the tank because the recoil will roll it down a hill." That was what we were told back in 1973 at Armor Officer Basic Course during our time in the M-551 Sheridan. Of course it was much, much lighter than the KV-2. Jim |

From what I have read they had to fire on a near flat surface. |

From what I have read they had to fire on a near flat surface. I'm not sure that's quite right. I think they could fire from a slope, but they couldn't turn the turret except on level ground. Bizarrely, a unit of captured KV-2s was assigned to the still-born plan to capture Malta in 1942. I can't image how much fun it would have been to load one of these onto a landing barge. |

Not my scale but nice model! |

Reportedly if the main gun was fired with the turret rotated more than 15 degrees off center it had a tendency to unseat the turret. |

only issue is that there are only two rungs depicted on the turret side, and there should be three. Nice model though it needs patriotic slogans painted on. |

I should have said traverse rather than "fire". |

I believe the M40 (and pre-production tanks) had 3 rungs the M41 just the 2. |

There you go, learned something new. Thanks for that. |
