Some interesting looking models, but the "front" door location looks wrong for several of them. Surely for the more ornate Dutch styles it's a defining feature that the narrow gable end of the roof is the building's front, not its side…?

(Indeed, it's a general feature of Dutch town houses – property taxes were historically frontage based, so people built them narrow, deep and tall.)

Yes, the door location is off, and that is a bit irksome. As is the interior structural design.

But otherwise, these are superb little kits for the price and paint up very nicely! I got the 2-story ones and will be putting pics up on my blog shortly.

There are wall pieces that slide in, and the floor pieces sit on top of those. However, the wall pieces severely limit the number of figures that can be put inside, and it is fiddly to remove the floors during the course of a game. 4-Ground kits where the entire floor level lifts off are much easier to use, but are also much more expensive.

So, I got the 2-story versions of these kits so there wouldn't be so many fiddly layers. I omitted the walls from the top floor so there's more room for minis there and blocked off most of the stairwell openings so figures don't fall down through. I plan to only use the top floor for placing figures, and can put 12 28's in there.

I wonder how much of a PITA it would be to move the door to the gable end?

Pass the humus please, 'twould be PITA indeed.

I just line them up with the gable end facing the road and an alleyway between each house for infantry to pass. Looks fine really. If anyone does complain that the doors aren't in the right spot, you can give them a cookie!

Leave the door where it is, but place another one over one front window. If you line them up, nobody will see the side-doors.

better still, replace the entire side wall with a piece of plain mdf. Leaves you with frontage for another two or three houses. And add a door to the front.

They must be all corner buildings.
