Unfortunately, just as with the K&K bases, you have to either get out the drill to fit the crew on or skip these great looking bases and just keep doing your own. If they can make stands with holes for the bases for the infantry, why not artillery crew?

They would have to be specific to a gun type if you did that, rather than generic as they are now.

Hi McKinstry,

well, the reason is quite simple, as they are they work with any gun and crew, if we make them with holes we would have to make a separate one for each type of weapon, and even so, you may want to arrange the figures differently on each base…

There are several ways to fit the figures on the bases, the one I personally prefer is the method commonly used for 28mm figures: cut off as much of the base of the figure as you can, using an exacto knife (place the figure on a piece of wood or something, holding it from the upper half of the body, position the blade right next to the foot, below the hand, and push down) you'll end up with a figure with two bits of base left under the feet, which you can use as pins; just drill small holes for them in the scenic base.
Alternatively you can use a large drill bit, make a hole for the whole figure base, than fill it up with some putty, like greenstuff. You can press some sand in the putty before it hardens, or glue some flock on top of it after, or even just paint it over, the result will be pretty much invisible anyway… Our bases are very though, the material is not brittle at all like some other resin (is very similar to ABS actually) and will take the drilling well.

If any of this is really not your kind of thing, order directly from our online shop and add a note for me: I'll make shallow pits as in the infantry bases for you in any base you order, at no extra cost. Just tell me how many pits you want and where… ;)

Cheers!

Hi Claudio,

Any update on your forthcoming 28mm scale WW2 bunkers?

Cheers

Ho yes! :)

I just got the test casts of the first two, they're great so we have started production for:
28004CM 28mm HMG medium bunker (German pillbox)
28005CM 28mm HMG medium bunker (German pillbox)

Mauro has just finished the master for
28025CM 28mm 'tobruk' type bunker (German)

and is going ahead with quite a few other subjects already… Will add picture to the website and update the progress bars as soon I have a spare sec!

For basing up the figures, i find the easiest method is turn a belt sander upside down, and gingerly grind down the figure base, after a few mishaps you get the knack weighed off pretty quickly :o). ( using appropraite H&S precautions of course). No real need to pin as you are handling the resin bases and not the minis ( As opposed to 20/28mm)

I find that merely looking at Baueda's website is potentially hazardous to my wallet. I could use at least one of everything in their FoW range. Unfortunately, I think shipping would double the cost. Maybe I can convince the wife we need to go back to visit Italy…

Man that sounds like a lot of work just to mount minis to bases, think I'll stick with the litco wooden bases.

Sir Tankalot,

Another option is to disguise the bases. We set one figure up on the bunker base (the base holding an AT gun in this review – though we hadn't disguised it yet in the picture: link
to be standing in shell casings, and another to be standing in wood plank debris.

It is a bit more work than using a flat surface and modeling up, but if you were to make your bases look like the CAMA line, I figure it would take twice as long there too.

Don.
