They look nicely painted, but I am still trying to figure out where anyone got the idea that ACW gun carriages were painted brown? Maybe some were painted brown and some other colors, but the majority were painted green! Just curious why this phenomenom still occurs in the miniature world?

I guess folks assume they were unpainted?

All the ACW guns I've seen are in a sort of very dark, dull green. I think the Confederates painted their guns a bluish-grey color sometimes.

Crazy folks thinking wooden gun carriages might look like…wood?

Nice review. I appreciate you taking the time on this project, and look forward to others.

Great work as always! Wargames Nordalia is an invaluable gamers resource and getting better all the time.

Thanks guys! We had fun with it, and now we're itching to get the other reviews done so we can retire our poor old plastics to the "when the youngest is old enough not to eat them" closet ;-).

FireZouave – I honestly thought that they didn't bother most of the time. We discussed that for AWI the British were pretty touchy about it and the continentals didn't worry too much what color it was… I had thought the same was true of all ACW units but the ones who considered themselves elite. So yeah, we left them wood. Now I'm curious though, have to go do some digging.

Nazrat, thank you, that is truly high praise, and it's appreciated. I'll pass it on to the rest of the team.

Start with the ACW Painting Guides Board:

The subject has come up more than a few times…

Interesting. I check the ACW board regularly, but never saw the thread that discussed this and mentions the Coat d'Arms paint review.

Thanks Allen… But I view the forums on TMP like I view Wikipedia. Not a primary source, and there are none quoted in that thread.

The Gm. I didn't mean to make it sound like I was being critical, but I guess that is the way it sounded. I am very much into the American Civil War, and have some basic knowledge of some things. I do realize that many people do not have some of the basic knowledge, so I try to share it with them, without trying to sound critical! A good example is the kepi/forage cap issue. Forage caps are the corect cap, unless there is documentation that the state or militia issued them to a particular regiment. I apologize if I offended anyone. As far as the limbers are concerned, go with the dull medium green, you can't ever be wrong with it!

"Not a primary source, and there are none quoted in that thread."

Keep looking! Knowledgeable posters have cited the paint colors specified in ACW artillery manuals.

No problem here, FireZouave. Perhaps there was a day when I would have been hurt/offended, but when you write, it's expected – even when you're right, let alone when you're wrong. I've been called an idiot, obviously clueless, biased, prejudiced, uneducated (in the field I have a Masters in), and a dunce… All without constructive criticism. You offered the correct color with your post, making it practically praise ;-).

Not that I'm ego – free, just that you sound afraid you offended me, and that's not a worry.

Good review, looking forward to the infantry / army packs.
