Darrell has noted that our games are "official" when I sing. I used to have a fine tenor (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!) but too many Stroh's and Yuenglings have not exactly made me a baritone, but just a tenor who can't reach those Slim Whitman notes. I try, though, much to the distress of the Militia. It's all about me. |

1/72nd scale so we can use the Korean War figures by Imex as the US Army troops. I would hate to have to collect a whole nuther scale just for this. I have been working on a miniature gave version for over a year on my own. I posted photos of my work on a Martian city on my blog. Mike Bunkermeister Creek bunkermeister.blogspot.com |

Wow! I've never bought a single mantic product
. but sign me up! I am now a devoted mantic fan! I only hope they don't veer to far from the original card series. And don't get me wrong I love the movie and all but that was Burton's take on the cards. There is so much potential here. This is great news! It will be a nice escape from the boring ZZZZs in all these zombie games. |
| jpattern2 | 17 May 2013 9:49 p.m. PST |
Hah! I'll be all over this! I've been a fan of Mars Attacks! ever since an older cousin gave me his complete set of the cards back in the late '60s. My mother "sent them to live on a farm upstate" shortly thereafter, which broke my little 10-year-old heart. Revenge was mine, though, when I bought the reissued cards in the '90s, all of the comics (including the crossovers), saw the movie twice in the theater, bought the DVD, and received all of the action figures as presents from my wife and daughter. Basically, just about everything marketed for Mars Attacks! through about 2002. (After that, there were so many official tie-ins and garage kits I would have gone broke trying to keep up.) So, Mantic plastics? Heck, yeah! The mad converter in me is looking forward to recreating some of the scenes from the cards and comics. (No, not "Destroying a Dog," that would just be mean.) But plastic Martians and Humans plus '60s-era US tanks and giant insect models from MPC (Mantis, Scorpion, and Tarantula) and Moebius (mutated Giant Insect) – Clear some shelf space! |

Seems very early to announce this (especially given how long other projects are kept hidden away under wraps) .. are they trying to steal some of the thunder from AQMF ?? |
| republic of tolworth | 17 May 2013 11:53 p.m. PST |
Yes seems a little odd, but if they have had to sort Ip etc it must have been in the pipe line for while. But to drop it mid 'another' martian game does seem a bit 'off' to me. |
| witteridderludo | 18 May 2013 1:39 a.m. PST |
Early announcement? I wouldn't call it that. With a release date of early 2014 this is the time to get to work on this project. And I'm guessing that will be the next Kickstarter campaign for this year that Mantic have mentioned in the past few days. And it will be so different from Martian Front I doubt many pledgers are dropping out for Mars Attacks. |
| Suetonius Paullinus | 18 May 2013 1:50 a.m. PST |
Exciting news! I'm looking forward to seeing the first sculpts. If its 28mm I'm definitely in! Cheers SP |
| MikeHobbs | 18 May 2013 3:40 a.m. PST |
Normally firms wait till one of their Kickstarter projects finishes before announcing another one, I guess Mantic are trying to hype this one up well in advance to maximise sales. I wonder if it'll effect the Deadzone KS in anyway? ok I know Mantic haven't said this will be a KS funded project, but we all know deep down it will be, just because that is there business model at the moment |
| Captain Nemo | 18 May 2013 7:36 a.m. PST |
Very true Tauboy Mike. It seems like KS is everyones business model theses days. |
| flooglestreet | 18 May 2013 8:03 a.m. PST |
The mad converter in me is looking forward to recreating some of the scenes from the cards and comics. (No, not "Destroying a Dog," that would just be mean.) Part of the attraction of Mars Attacks cards was that the Martians could do things little boys could not do. Face it, pre-pubescent little boys are monsters, just like adolescent boys and
I am not going to go there. The movie scenes where Slim Whitmans yodels cause the Martians brains to explode is rather like inserting firecrackers into toys and watching them explode. Ponce de Leon, thou shouldst be living in this hour. |

IF you can't wait until 2014 for some 'ack-ack-acktion'

a little 'mod-work' on the 'brain' before you glue helmet down and
.'ack-ack-ack'
(at least till the OTHER chaps come out!!! Then you can 'combine forces' and wipe those suface-dwelling, bipedal, mammalian, oxygen-breathers out!!!! Sgt DWW-btod, welcoming ALL our new Martian overlords with extra croutons at the Salad Bar
.
Mwah-hah-hah!!! |
| moocifer | 18 May 2013 11:05 a.m. PST |
Funny thing is .. Mr Mantic at Triples Sheffield told me today, the plan was to do this in 15mm as far as he knew .. |
| tberry7403 | 18 May 2013 5:24 p.m. PST |
a little 'mod-work' on the 'brain' before you glue helmet down
Actually you could use them as-is and then when the "real" ones come out you can use Worf's "We do not discuss it with outsiders." line to explain the differences. |
| Schogun | 18 May 2013 7:17 p.m. PST |
Word is that Tim Burton and crew didn't know just what the Martians sounded like so they filled the lines with Ack! Ack! By the end of production, they all agreed Ack! Ack! was exactly what Martians sounded like. |

Nooooooo 15mm??? Why? Who plays skirmishes in 15mm? A Martian head will just be a blob of plastic with no detail (brain). This would be a catastrophic business decision..! Please let it be at least 20mm
but to be honest for me it has to be 28mm to be interested. Cheers SP |
Stratos | 19 May 2013 5:28 a.m. PST |

Same here. 28mm, I'm in. 15mm or 20mm, probably not. |
