I was not going to try after seeing a slightly negative review on here somewhere but for £6.00 GBP it is too good a bargain to miss. If I end up only taking a couple of ideas from it then money well spent I reckon. |

Don't know if the rules are any good, but kudos to Crusader on providing the information people need to decide whether the rules are for them. It's surprising sometimes how many publishers don't provide this info to prospective purchasers. |

Kudos on the information they did provide, but perhaps I am greedy as I would like to know more before making up my mind. What is a 'large battle'? Several divisions? One corp? Multi-corp? And how big are these individual battalions? One base? Multi-base? 12 figs-ish? 24? How large a table is recommended for 15 or 25mm? At 6 quid I may spring for them anyway, but with more info it would be an easier decision. |

Whatisitgoood4atwork – all your questions would be answered if you followed the links. It's not too hard to do. |

Well, I have read the example of play and I have the quick reference sheets I am ready to write my review. <Note: that is completely not serious, and in joke to previous discussions that may be fairly old by now, and NOT directed at any comments on this post> Otherwise, the price is right for a pick up and read through. Time will tell. |

I highly recommend these rules for larger battles (to my mind anything from a small corps upwards to multi-corps per side). I think Angel Barracks might be confused about the slightly negative review (not difficult in Napoleonics these days!), as I believe these have only been discussed in this thread, and positively: TMP link The rules manage to achieve that elusive balance between using battalions as the basic unit – and keeping their maneuvers and actions meaningful on that level – and abstracting combat enough to be able to quickly play complex multi-formation battles. The use of Combat Values for quick resolution of fire and charges, quality tests for maneuver in the face of the enemy, and formation level skirmishing, morale checks, and rallying, all provide a unique game with a familiar feel. I've been around a while and played a *lot* of different types of rules, but these have me convinced. Cheers, Christopher |

Ignore my negative review mark, getting old. |

Incidentally: Infantry and cavalry are 2 bases, each 40x30mm Artillery is one base per battery at 40x40. Number of figures per base is irrelevant. Ground scale 1" = 60 yards so do the math for how big your table is

The dimensions Mark gives (just above) are sized for 15mm figures so if you use 25/28, then double everything. And this is close enough to my current basing that I should be able to use my Napoleonic forces without any re-basing. Hurrah! Jim |
Who asked this joker | 24 May 2011 6:29 a.m. PST |
Worth the price (about $10). I have Napoleon's Battles basing with my cavalry on 1" squares. So when I get around to it, I'll be playing with 4 stands for infantry and 3 stands for cavalry. That will give the same frontage and the frontages recommended in the book (close enough anyway!). |

Crap. FedEx Kinko's refuses to print this for me because it is copy righted on every page. Normally I don't think they look that close but since this has it as the footer on every page they are making me do it myself :-( I like them to do it so I can get it coil bound and with a cover
oh well, I guess B&W will just have to do. |

Private Matter | 24 May 2011 8:27 a.m. PST |
That's a shame Mark. I buy most of my rule sets as PDFs and never have any problem with them. Perhaps a note from the publisher about being able to print them when you purchase the rules may make it easier. Have you tried someone like a Staples or Office Depot that has in-store printing? |
Extra Crispy | 24 May 2011 9:07 a.m. PST |
They will coil bind it no problem – but i can't print double sided. So now I have to print the cover on one computer, the body at my wife's office and then go to get it bound. Or just forget the whole thing. Stupid Kinko's. They will only take an original signed letter from the author/publisher, at least according to the man in the tie at my local Kinko's

Yeah, I've had that thrown at me before too. It's why I bought a duplex laser printer. The authors should include something in the pdf rules to make this issue go away. Thanks, John |

I just got a new Canon printer, copier, scanner that does both sides for $99.00. I have the rules. I will not have a chance to play them until July. Reading them, I think I will like them. I am using a different mounting system, but I think it will work with very little effort. Tom |

It is possible (though tricky) to have your printer do all the odd numbered pages, then take them out, turn them over and do all the even numbered pages. But do a couple first to make sure you know how to turn the paper so both sides are facing up. |

Will these be available on the oldglory25s.com website? That is where I get all my Crusader due to my discount. Please say it is so. |

I'm not sure where all the copyright notices at the bottom of the pages are from – they are not on the original documents – does anyone else have them as well? May be the PDF settings
I dont put any security on my PDF's so there should be absolutely no restrictions on what you can do with them for your own use. Nick at North Star will be dealing with all of the trade and distribution of the printed copies. Old Glory sell all of the other rules and supplements so I'm pretty sure they will have some copies available in due course. If all goes well and the printers keep to their delivery date I should have the books with North Star by the end of the week and hopefully at Partizan on the 29th. |

The only place I see it on the screen is on page 3, at the bottom. |

I've got the published version on post free for pre-orders, and hopefully I'll be getting them in the next week. Regards Nick |
