Hmmm. I can now buy a company's worth of figures for what Flames of War charges for a platoon?

Bob in Edmonton22 Aug 2014 2:50 p.m. PST

Are these available in 1/72 scale?

nazrat22 Aug 2014 4:26 p.m. PST

Not yet.

Impressive!

Lordgoober22 Aug 2014 7:24 p.m. PST

very impressive. May have to get a box for some early war non Gebirgsjager lists.

Winston Smith22 Aug 2014 9:18 p.m. PST

Do they come with bases and if so what sizes ?

nazrat23 Aug 2014 7:50 a.m. PST

The boxes I have gotten had no bases.

CorsairFAS21723 Aug 2014 10:43 a.m. PST

If you need bases, all the maxed out credit cards that are used to buy game supplies will work nicely :) PSC keeps hitting home runs with their products. I'm surprised more retailers don't carry them. Does Battlefront have an anti compete clause or something?

Fotherington Thrip23 Aug 2014 5:19 p.m. PST

Will the figures be the new bigger size? If so I can see some early Germans coming my way.

PiersBrand23 Aug 2014 5:26 p.m. PST

Same size as the new 15mm British.

Doubt there is an ant-compete clause, it may just be a case of not knowing. Regardless Andy of Stg. Major Miniatures carries the Plastic Soldier line and is great to mail order with. I have to agree about being able to buy a company of great looking figures for the same price that Battlefront charges for a platoon. Yes that does not include the bases but that is a problem easily solved. I have recently considered getting back to playing Flames of War simply as there is a regular group that meets at my local game store twice a month. I was going to buy enough FOW war boxes to allow me to do an American Infantry company but I see I come out a whole lot cheaper going with The Plastic Soldier boxes.

GGouveia23 Aug 2014 9:09 p.m. PST

Lotto makes FOW sized bases for a great price.

Black Cavalier23 Aug 2014 11:56 p.m. PST

GGouveia probably meant Litko

Gunbird24 Aug 2014 12:22 p.m. PST

You do realise PSC sells the bases as well? It truly is a one-stop shop.

GGouveia24 Aug 2014 12:44 p.m. PST

Lotto? Bloody autocorrect. Yes it was meant to be Litko, lol. Nice spot Black Cavalier.

I have never tried to paint plastics before. Is there any difference between painting plastics and metal?

These figures are hard plastic so if anything they should hold paint better than metal.

Some plastics need washing to get rid of mould release agent but so far I have not found the PSC ones to be like that. Zvezda models are more likely to need a good clean before painting.

battleeditor25 Aug 2014 5:15 a.m. PST

@toomanyfigures

If in doubt, give your plastics a coat of diluted PVA white glue as a first undercoat – or you could mix a little PVA in with your standard undercoat colour and brush it on. Hard plastics tend not to need this, but it works wonders on the softer polythene of Esci/Zvezda/Revell/Airfix/HäT etc. It can also help to fill assembly gaps.

I just got the test prints of the 15mm German heavy weapons to paint up…

Very nice… Really like the chappie about to werf Flammen.

klingsor25 Aug 2014 10:01 a.m. PST

Wash them and spray them with primer and they are ready to paint. Use plastic primer if you are paranoid (I do). With the new coloured primers you can combine priming with the uniform colour. If you prefer to brush or airbrush the primer on use the wonderful Vallejo polyurethane coloured primers.

battleeditor26 Aug 2014 2:22 a.m. PST

A good friend of mine has just told me they use aliquot ex Gesso to prime and they've had no problems.

What? LIQUITEX gesso! Tangled fingers disease!
