Sounds really cool. I may have to get back into space based games

I'm interested -- my main question is how does it play? The console with switches(?) looks interesting. The tutorials for building are very well done. And they did a good job of quelling my "could I really build that" fear. But -- this could be great -- or it could be just another starship combat heartbreaker. How does it play? |

It kind of bugs me that they talk about buying, prepping and painting miniatures like it's a bad thing

For many of us, it can be a very bad thing. Money, time, and skill aren't something we all possess in the needed quantity; personally, getting the three to fall together at the same time seems virtually impossible of late. I don't know about everyone else here, but as much as I love the tactile sensation of playing with minis, it seems as if – more often than not – some imbalance of that Holy Trinity of Wargaming is setting me back and preventing me from playing the games I'm itching to play

I bought it yesterday and it's really nice! I only wish more ship types came with the game. The Capital ships are REALLY honkin' huge though (Like 8"-10" for the big Battleship). Seems to be a very Graphic-Design oriented game. Pretty kewl. |

I only wish more ship types came with the game. If you play the trailer for the game, at the end you hear the narrator saying "Killing each other never made any sense, when the real enemy was out there, drawing nearer, eating everything in its path." This is Wormhole "The Sathricans". Certainly sounds like more races and more ships are in the works. |

I hear ya Warlock. I was in on the initial playtesting before I had to drop out. I monitored progress for a bit, (as a lurker on their playtest site) but then stopped visiting since I realized I didn't have the time to join back up and catch-up with developments. I signed an NDA and while that was over a year ago, and the game probably morphed several times since then, I still feel I should keep my mouth shut. So unless I can point out something they may hint at in their own materials, I cannot comment on how many races, ships, or anything else. And I have no clue as to the timing of any expansions or what those might contain. Been out of that loop for far too long. That said, I would not ordinarily buy a minis game that had only two factions. I want more variety (fast, slow but tougher, quantity, quality, brutal, cunning, etc). But knowing (at least "thinking" that I "know") there will be more races coming, I will back this game with my wallet, and hope that does indeed lead to more races. |
