Nice looking model!

Yes nice model but ABSOLUTELY not a medium tank. On a road, maybe. Off road, no better than "le Tigre"

"A" is for dis-A-ster with initial roll out. Sorry, but true.

Gun nearly better or equal to 88 L56

IMHO they should'a put those Panther guns in Panzer IV and kept making PZIV.. would have had MUCH more chance of actually causing a stalement in the war; so good thing they didn't "eh?"

Prof Pate20 Aug 2014 9:49 a.m. PST

Well they classed it Medium so who are we to argue?

Seriously if we have a retrospective view this is first of the Universal tanks from 1944 – 1974, after which practically everyone went for MBTs (or Heavy in old speak)

Looks like another excellent model from Warlord.

Cheers

Huh! C-C its the kit not the real thing roll a die for reliability if you need to.

This kit does look great and I like the decals that are part of it.

"A" is for dis-A-ster with initial roll out.

Actually "D" is for disaster since the initial variant of the Panther that suffered the most problems is the Ausf D which first saw action in the Battle of Kursk.

Then the final Ausf G came out and "G" is for greeeeaaat!

BTW the Panther is the only tank which defied following the alphabet in successive variants with D-A-G.

WillieB20 Aug 2014 3:47 p.m. PST

The very first Panthers were Auf. A, later designated D or D1 or 'd', followed by the more powerful D2, then by 'A' and 'G'. Possibly later also a few 'F'

So it's A, D, A (again?), G and F? What the frack were they thinking?

Let's confuse the next generations of wargamers? grin

Fs with 88mm schmalturm were in use in the East in 1945. I knew a vet who confirmed this – now sadly deceased.
