These are the very best figures for the Spanish American war. If I were just starting out this is the only line I would buy. However, They are not compatible with the other SAW ranges available in the US. Think 1898 as elves, OG as men. and Tiger as ogres. |

Yes, very nice models and paint jobs. As well as the rarely seen Krag. |

Gunfreak, You can always watch Hogan's Heroes! I've always wondered why Schultz carries one, I mean of all the German weapons Hollywood had in the 1960's, the Krag! I think I'll do some research on that. I know John Banner only took the role if he could portray German's as bumbling & dimwitted. So maybe that had something to do with it… |

"He had probably taken part in the Norwegian campaign where he strangled innocent Norwegian soldiers with his bare hands and took their Krags as a trophy." Not at all. He was Jewish. Working in an acting troupe in Switzerland when Hitler took over Austria, he was an Austrian Jew. He came to the US in 1938. Joined the US Army Air Corps in 1942 & served till the end of the war. Banner was NO NAZI. Peter |

I was talking the character not the actor. |
Ceterman | 11 Nov 2017 2:34 p.m. PST |
Well I was talking the actor & Hollywood. I still think there is a specific reason for this weapon but I have not been able to find any info as of yet! Because there was & still is a boatload of Mausers in the States. They are in every other WW2 show of the time & I just wonder why the Krag was in this one. It's just odd… |

VCarter, when you use the word "elves", are you thinking in terms of Santas elves which are short and stubby or in terms of Tolkien elves, which are tall and thin? I agree about the tiger miniatures being hefty in size. |

Just ordered some SAW from 1898. All their minis look good. I'll be ordering some of the Buffalo Soldiers this week! Charlie (not a sock-puppet!) |

These would be Tolkien Elves. I did take some side by side pictures if another would like to compare. If you just have Old Glory and no Tiger, they could work. Much like OG and Tiger can work. BTW – I need to swap OG horses for the Tiger ones to make them work. The old Glory horses are good sizes as is, but the Tiger horses look like thin elephants next to them. I also needed to cut down the Tiger rifles. The Tiger units I built were an elite Civil Guard (mounted and foot units) as well as a few officers so having them a little larger was not an issue. |
