Larry Elmore is still T H E D&D artist for me. His art always managed to capture the style of heroic fantasy gaming very well. Personally I prefer his b&w illus to his colour work because of the fine linework and the fact that some of his colour art is.. well a bit to colourfull for my taste (I understand the marketīs demands for brightly coloured covers though.). I wish TSR (and others) would return to an Elmore related illustration style. The new anime/manga/videogamy style just doesnīt mix very well with heroic fantasy in my opinion. |

The new anime/manga/videogamy style just doesnīt mix very well with heroic fantasy in my opinion. Barkeep, buy that man a beer! I've been saying exactly that ever since D&D 3E came out, including here on TMP. I guess the anime/Final Fantasy style might appeal to a very narrow demographic, but it leaves most of the fantasy gamers that I game with very, very cold. |

I agree with your sentiments. It's not even good quality anime, but lousy designs targeted to juveniles. |
