Why do people love the pose of one man firing over the shoulder of another so much? It's not a common firing pose in reality.

Nice sculpts nonetheless.

Is a common mode of firing in long range.
And more nice pose….

PrivateSnafu19 Feb 2019 11:04 a.m. PST

Everytime I see that pose I think of the scene from Black Hawk Down where the one soldiers ear keeps getting blasted by the Machine gunners noise. I question how much it ever happened.

This infamous pose was taken from a "cool" propaganda photo (or two) and has been immortalized since. Only the arcing overhead "fast ball" potato-masher grenade throw is more iconic. You know, the one at the very bottom.

If the sculptors did not give the figures a certain picturesque air and we wanted to be very realistic, almost all the minis should be crawling with few alternatives of other poses.

Its 5 pictures anyways. Its an especially un-useful pose if you use figure removal basing systems.

Hi PrivateSnafu. If you look at the whole range, I think you'll find enough figures that you like, before launching these minis, we launched 15 minis of Waffen SS. Total 41 minis plus 2 separate weapons.

What scale are these? 28mm? 20mm? Steel 72=1/72?

Why do figure companies not ever say what scale their figures are? I went to the Facebook page and didn't see anything saying what scales these are. This happens all the time. By the way not everyone is on FB. I have to put with half the page blocked out. Get a real website with a shopping cart.

Rant is over. It has been building for some time.

Sounds like someone needs to take a chill pill. I would normally agree with you but the "72" in the name made it quite obvious, and you can always go to its TMP listing if you had any doubt: TMP link

"STEEL72 is dedicated to the manufacture and sale of vehicles and military figures of the Second World War in 1:72 scale."

As for using Facebook, poor Mr. Xan may be a lone sculptor with limited means and resources. It's not exactly uncommon for such one-man operations that simply can't afford more expensive and robust e-commerce solutions to rely on FB.

Hola Xan, hermosos trabajos, sigue así,

Its definitely an iconic pose. One that I certainly want in my collection, primarily because it looks so cool, and, yes, there are plenty of photos out there showing it.
Gaming wise, no different from any other mg team. But then, as I said, cool enough that I'd fudge any rules cos I want it!

Great miniatures Xan.

I think it's the first time I forgot to put 20mm. Sometimes details like that escape if you're always on a scale. In any case in Steel72, everything is 1/72.

I believe in one of the German field tactical manuals I have at home, does list the two man firing operation kneeling or standing as proper sustained firing position. It mentions something to the fact that if a tripod is not available, these methods are acceptable and encouraged. I would have to dig them up to refresh my memory. I like the poses. There are many non-propaganda photographs that shows this in action.

Congratulations Xan! In my opinion is an excellent stuff. I got the sMG42 team on my workbench and is really nice to paint it.

I saw it on the front page and missed it was posted to the 28mm board. Sorry about that.

Nice figure range, too bad I am saturated with 28mm.

PrivateSnafu-- I have such figures, and a spare prone one that I substitute when the unit takes a casualty. Maybe Yan would give such a prone one if you ask when you order the set.

Ditto on the comments regarding scale. A straight forward statement about scale is a good idea, we all know the problem with assume.

Realistic pose? Those guys were so pepped up on Pervitin (meth) that a little blasting by the ear would not be noticed.

Maha Bandula23 Feb 2019 5:27 a.m. PST

If Xan's work for Minairons is anything to go by, these will likely be excellent. I know there are enough unique figures in 20mm scale to man a full 1-to-1 battalion, but hopefully these will sell well enough for him to branch out into the esoteric and cover some of the nations he previously had for Fantassin, or those still sorely lacking from the market (Slovaks anyone?).
