Great to see these back (hopefully without the ebay inflated prices)
Wonderful range of miniatures.

Matheo08 Jun 2011 3:07 p.m. PST

Awesome news.

Who asked this joker08 Jun 2011 3:07 p.m. PST

Outstanding news! I do hope they release them in more manageable packs. 24 per pack was a bit much.

Cool!

Farstar08 Jun 2011 3:15 p.m. PST

Oh good, I was hoping to find more of the animalistic elves.

chuck05 Fezian08 Jun 2011 3:16 p.m. PST

THats terriffic news. The Demonworld line was excellent.

Chuck

Spacelord08 Jun 2011 3:18 p.m. PST

smaller packs, separate command groups, revised rules, all coming soon :)

Pictors Studio08 Jun 2011 3:20 p.m. PST

These are some great figures.

Farstar08 Jun 2011 3:21 p.m. PST

The deal didn't happen to include HP's brief foray into 15mm SF, did it?

Spiffy Iguana08 Jun 2011 3:32 p.m. PST

Oh happy day! I'll certainly be picking up more than a few packs.

streetline08 Jun 2011 3:33 p.m. PST

So much for my lottery winnings plan. Good news though – if they do sensible pack sizes this will serve them well.

Little Big Wars08 Jun 2011 3:33 p.m. PST

This is amazing… WHFB-styled armies are available in 15mm once more.

KONKURUR08 Jun 2011 3:34 p.m. PST

YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Malaki the Wonderer08 Jun 2011 3:42 p.m. PST

Awesome news, any chance of a time frame when they might be available again?

Spacelord08 Jun 2011 3:51 p.m. PST

No sci-fi I'm afraid.
We are aiming to get the initial releases out within a few weeks and then build the range steadily with further regular batches. There are well over 200 codes in the original range so it will take us a little while to get them all back in production.

Keltheos08 Jun 2011 3:59 p.m. PST

Awesome.

DW was a great game. Can't wait to see the tweaks and fixes you'll put into the system.

Personal logo Saber6 Supporting Member of TMP Fezian08 Jun 2011 4:01 p.m. PST

OMG! I hope the packaging is "Gamer Freindly" and availble in the US

Falling Airborne08 Jun 2011 4:09 p.m. PST

Great, I never got the chance to try DW. Now I'll dive in.

Farstar08 Jun 2011 4:29 p.m. PST

"Now I'll dive in."

The game is funky. The minis are really cool.

Garand08 Jun 2011 4:32 p.m. PST

Wasn't the game hex based? If so, I'll pass on the rules. But 15mm fantasy is always welcome…

Damon.

Farstar08 Jun 2011 4:36 p.m. PST

Hex-based, multi-base units spread across several hexes (adjacent is unit coherency, IIRC), and the front of a base is a hex corner instead of an edge.

mdauben08 Jun 2011 4:53 p.m. PST

Cool! I had a few packs of these back in the day, but I never got enough for an actual army. I may just try again.

Ganesha Games Sponsoring Member of TMP08 Jun 2011 4:54 p.m. PST

This is just the best news item of the month for 15mm Fantasy players.

Ping Pong08 Jun 2011 4:58 p.m. PST

Great news! I love these figures.

(Leftee)08 Jun 2011 5:18 p.m. PST

Great rules actually, really enjoyed the few games a friend put on. Wealth of hex mats and cheap bases (Litko) and sizes out there now so that should not be a problem.
US availability?

Shakespear08 Jun 2011 5:32 p.m. PST

What size are the hexes? Battletech size?

Is "RPE" in the US?

Can anyone give me a history of the line? I remember it advertised 100 years ago..

Shakespear08 Jun 2011 5:33 p.m. PST

EUROPE….opps

a US distributor?

I didnt do it08 Jun 2011 5:33 p.m. PST

Great news!

smaller packs, separate command groups, revised rules, all coming soon :)

This even better!

doug redshirt08 Jun 2011 5:49 p.m. PST

I loved these minis and bought the kids a bunch when they younger. Have several packs and minis laying around. I will so buy these as long as the postage doesnt make them too expensive.

jpattern208 Jun 2011 5:50 p.m. PST

This is really excellent news, and not just for 15mm gamers. Many of the minis also work in 25mm-28mm, as regular-sized animals, as familiars, Orcs as Goblins or Snotlings, etc. I game in 28mm primarily, and I'm planning to get the Thain animal spirits. Truly original sculpts.

This is just the best news item of the month for 15mm Fantasy players.
I agree with Ganesha, and that's really something, considering all of the awesome 15mm that's already been released this month.

Is this *A* Golden Age for 15mm, or *THE* Golden Age for 15mm?

Space Monkey08 Jun 2011 6:33 p.m. PST

Some of the monsters might be of use for 6mm fantasy as well.

Why did this fail the first time around?

Battle Works Studios08 Jun 2011 6:51 p.m. PST

Excellent news.

doug redshirt08 Jun 2011 6:52 p.m. PST

It was almost impossible to get state side. Took me forever to get what I wanted at the time. Nothing kills a range like not being able to get the range.

jpattern208 Jun 2011 7:33 p.m. PST

What Doug said. Even the big distributors like Brookhurst had difficulty getting the minis stateside.

The packaging was also really weird. You could only buy most of the minis in large numbers that corresponded to the Demonworld game. If you only wanted a few of the smaller minis, forget about it.

Then there was the expense. The minis were (and are) very well sculpted, but they were also 15mms that were close, to or even in excess of, the cost of 28mms. For example, the large Thain monsters cost up to four or five times as much as an equivalently sized Ral Partha AD&D monster, at the time – $25 USD or so, as I recall, for a monster the size of a Catoblepas.

I'm hoping that RPE's pricing will be much more reasonable. They've already said that their packaging will be.

Snowcat08 Jun 2011 7:36 p.m. PST

Wonderful news. Great things are worth waiting for. :)

Allen5708 Jun 2011 7:39 p.m. PST

I have a bunch of these minis and will look forward to more.

Were those smaller terrain pieces and ships for the various factions part of the line you are reproducing? I would love to get a hold of a bunch more of those also.

Al

CPBelt08 Jun 2011 7:43 p.m. PST

I have a feeling they still will be expensive.

cloudcaptain08 Jun 2011 8:24 p.m. PST

I guess the price and packaging will depend on if RPE wants them to succeed. I doubt that they'd make the same mistakes the last owner did.

Sir Samuel Vimes08 Jun 2011 9:10 p.m. PST

Fantastic news. It would seem the powers that be DO want me to be interested in 15mm gaming after all.

I may not use the rule but, a unit pack of 24 suits me fine for Armies of Arcana or Impetus Fantasy. Besides, even if I only used part of the 24 figures for Song of Blades, Rally Round the King, Hostile Realms or HoTT units, I'm sure I could find a buyer for my "spares"

The Beast Rampant08 Jun 2011 9:20 p.m. PST

Wow. I DID live to see it happen.

The minis were REALLY nice. I was OK with paying (a bit) more for them than other 15's, so long as I didn't have to deal with those huge packs.
Especially since I doubt I will use them for the DW rules.

And *especially* not if they use the hex-thing. I always thought that was a bad idea.

I hope they are successful with the line. I also hope they got a better price the one I last heard was offered.

JHaygood08 Jun 2011 9:25 p.m. PST

Great, wonderful news! So excited!

timurilank08 Jun 2011 9:49 p.m. PST

This is indeed great news. Thank you Ral Partha.
Cheers,

Operon08 Jun 2011 10:08 p.m. PST

Some of the best miniatures news I have heard all year.

hwarang08 Jun 2011 10:40 p.m. PST

Great!

Twilight Samurai08 Jun 2011 10:48 p.m. PST

It will be great to get hold of some of these. One less defunct range to dream about. If only the Ral Partha 15mm range could return from the grave.

WKeyser08 Jun 2011 11:31 p.m. PST

Here is a site with photos of the figs.

Brilliant! These were awesome figures – can't wait to get my hands on some!

SpaceJacker09 Jun 2011 1:42 a.m. PST

If I can buy these in small packs (5-10 models) I will be all over this range for SOBH.

TheMasterworkGuild09 Jun 2011 2:22 a.m. PST

Loved the figures… But the game sucks.

Learn from other great 15mm miniature lines such as AB. Packs of 8 figures, and have unit packs of 24 figures for those that want armies!

Forget the Hex basing and create a new Demonworld set of rules please! Make this game great!

Spacelord09 Jun 2011 2:27 a.m. PST

We will definitely be offering smaller packs alonside the unit packs, one of our priorities for the revised rules is to offer a hex-free variant.

thanks for the comments and suggestions :)
