Arab horses a century ago were about 14.2 hands high, so basically pony size. Even now they are only 15 to 15.2 hands high. A century ago almost all were chestnut coloured, with lots of white on the legs and head, greys and bays were extremely rare. I suppose they would look slightly odd if they'd been modelled true to their historical size as the riders would appear too large for their mounts, but that's how it was according to my OH who breeds Arab horses. |
