One can never have too many civilians, particularly the spectacularly foppish ones.

I agree with Winston Smith, please sculpt more civilians for this period. There are just too many uses for them in an number venues not just for these particular conflicts as they would be wonderful for pirates or three musketeer venues. The sculpting is simply wonderful. MORE!

In particular rowdy revolting peasants or tradesmen and women.

Oh and please recommend good sources to study up on this particular series of conflicts between France, England and the Dutch. I want to know more as I have been interested in gaming this period every since Mark Sims first started this line of figures. Or was it Mike Owens who started these?

I always recommend this Blog for anyone interested in the French Dutch War:

The range was originally started by Marc Copplestone.

When I see figures of this quality I regret that I do not do 28mm figures. They look superb.

Right it was Mark Copplestone, thanks for clearing that up Lon. I knew it was one of the Foundry alums.

Broglie was is not to like? Floppy hats, plumes, frock coats, lacing, pikes, muskets, cannon, cavalry still has a shock aspect. Of course there were some pretty significant naval battles during this time period.

Right it was Mark Copplestone, thanks for clearing that up Lon.

Is he continuing or is this a different sculptor? The figures appear little more realistically proportioned than earlier, not so much the traditional "pulp look".

Good 28mms in any event and the period 1670s-90s is a great one all due kudos to the WSS aside. I have a ton of the Warfare Minatures LoA range, and there is another player in the game with his own line of ca 1670s.

Having mentioned him I must apologize for not having the name of his range on the tip of my tongue. He joins in the discussions on the League of Augsburg site:

That mounted figure looks a lot like Colonel Bishop, Errol Flynn's nemesis at Port Royale in "Captain Blood."

Yes, would definitely buy more civilians like this!

These will make a nice addition to my Warfare Miniatures and existing 1672 figures. They would be great for Donnybrook, too.
