WOW! These look great!

khurasanminiatures02 Jul 2009 5:18 a.m. PST

Oh dear I forgot to credit the painter! Steve Dean, thank you!

Stewbags02 Jul 2009 5:30 a.m. PST

I need to secretly add 3 extra days into my week without anyone noticing, that would give me the time i need to pursue all these projects!!!

Seriously, they are bloomin AMAZING, possibly even cooler looking than the 28mm ones with their classic slightly super-deformed 15mm proportions (that is a compliment btw).

Mr Khurasan, i have said it before, hats off to you.

mweaver02 Jul 2009 5:32 a.m. PST

Toothy little fellows, aren't they? I like them.

camelspider02 Jul 2009 6:41 a.m. PST

Toothy little fellows, aren't they?

That looks like a painting choice -- the teeth probably don't have to be so pronounced if you don't want.

I'm going to reduce this pic down to see what these look like in 15mm ….

So in a game like Stargrunt or whatever we use, the Garn are so powerful that one would be the equivalent of two or three human soldiers?

I like the figs. We need more butt-kicking aliens--not bugs or greys!

squirmydad02 Jul 2009 8:49 a.m. PST

Nice. I actually like these better than the 28mm versions, the giant head full of teeth seems more evident. That may be the paint job but the sculpt seems to emphasize the giant head more in this version. Again, very nice work for the painting and the sculpting.

Wow, they ARE really nice. Not sure if they're on the top of my buy list though.

Thanks,

John

So in a game like Stargrunt or whatever we use, the Garn are so powerful that one would be the equivalent of two or three human soldiers?

The intent was to provide aliens that are good swaps for you basic power armoured human elite, but with an interesting twist.

So they have two hearts and powerful bodies instead of suit-based strength enhancement. Instead of the physical barrier of the suit armour, we have a force field projector that does the same thing, but with force technology. And we have elite status too, but it is part of their nature rather than due to their being a special trained cadre of warriors.

It was our hope that the models would be a drop fit for your basic space marine type in most games, but with a great physical variation to mix things up a bit on the tabletop. Hope you guys agree! grin

Khurasan,

I most strenuously *disagree.* I want 28mm Garn in *powered armour,* and I want them last week. My Imperial Terran Marine Corps project needs more recruits, Capiche? evil grin

"WHAT ARE YOU DOIN' IN MY IMPERIAL TERRAN MARINE CORPS, BOOOY?!! 'KILL AND EAT PEOPLE?!!!' WE'LL SEE ABOUT THAT, BOOY!!! WHERE YOU FROM?!! 'GARN PRIME?!!! GAAARNN PRIIIME?!! AIN'T NOTHIN'ON GARN PRIME BUT STEERS AND QUEERS!!! I DON'T SEES NO HORNS ON YOU, BOY!!! THE FIRST AND LAST THING I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOUR FANGED MOUTH IS 'SIR!' DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME, BOOOY?!!! AHHH CAAAN'T HEEEAR YOOOU!!!"

Garn in space suits would be a good option, for zero-G attacks, and for operations in dangerous atmospheres.

Of course, we'll need bubble-topped plastic helmets so you can see their heads.

khurasanminiatures02 Jul 2009 11:01 a.m. PST

TGA, the Garn force field technology is intended to cover all the bases in replacing the human power armour, including generation of artificial environment. To see the fluff on that, check out the 28mm page:

Are your Garn suppose to look like the space reptiles from Zathura? Also your power armor/robot looks alot like Robot from said film. I need to get some of these I think.

khurasanminiatures02 Jul 2009 11:44 a.m. PST

Don't know what those are bunny so I'd have to say no. I thought up a concept design and the original sculptor of the 28s, Aaron Brown, brought it to life for the original models, then I had the models smallified for 15mm players, partly based on popular demand on TMP!

Farstar02 Jul 2009 11:49 a.m. PST

"partly based on popular demand on TMP"

Then I guess we'll just have to order some…

BlackWidowPilot Fezian02 Jul 2009 12:29 p.m. PST

Hmmmm… baby Garn…. evil grin

That would be correct sir! grin

MiniatureReview02 Jul 2009 1:40 p.m. PST

Got a question for ya.

Ok so there is a Plasma gun, assault canon, flame thrower, Plasma cannon. Are there going to be any lower powered weapons on these criters? Say a group of them with laser guns or something like that?

Oh and we will probably never be able to paint them up to Steve Dean's skill level. :(

khurasanminiatures02 Jul 2009 2:21 p.m. PST

Trathlete2000, the assault cannon is theur low powered (basic) assault weapon -- like an assault rifle, but firing a heavier round.

If you're a 40k player, think boltgun vs lasgun. Boltgun is what you'd expect a marine to carry, but it's still not killing tanks on its own.

GypsyComet02 Jul 2009 11:13 p.m. PST

Order is in!

jimbeau04 Jul 2009 6:06 a.m. PST

I promised my wife I'd paint most of what I have before buying more minis…

dumb promise.

I assume you'll still be around in 2367?

khurasanminiatures04 Jul 2009 10:27 a.m. PST

For a small business, every day of operation is a miracle! grin
