Nice looking minis, but the Earps are my favs with the dusters.

I've always liked the look of their Wild West figures. It is just too bad they are 30 plus millimeter and do not fit with the majority of my Foundry 28 millimeter figures. The poses are dynamic and well sculpted and have tons of character.

They can't be Earps! They're dressed in black! Only Bad Guys wear black.

read up
the earps were not good guys all the time

Those are beautiful Western figures, as are all of Black Scorpion's Tombstone range, but too many things wrong to actually be the Earps. None of them carried two revolvers. None of them actually wore holsters at the OK Corral, and Doc should be carrying a stagecoach gun, not a full length shotgun.

Can you tell the size difference on the tabletop? In an Old West gunfight, figures are not too close in proximity…

I liked the original figures years ago that were made out of metal. Not a fan of these since they are made out of resin.

john lacour28 May 2016 6:35 p.m. PST

Just coming to say that doc's "cross-draw" holster was not on the hip. It was more in the front.

kallman28 May 2016 7:46 p.m. PST

Yes Bill I can tell the difference and it is considerable. Still beautiful figures just a different size than what I have in my collection.

Inkpaduta29 May 2016 10:49 a.m. PST

I agree with Joe, I don't like resin.

They are magnificent sculpts, I only wish they were still cast in metel!

john lacour29 May 2016 1:41 p.m. PST

Doc carried his pistol in a "cross-draw" holster. He certainly wore a holster at the street fight in Tombstone.

I've carped about this continuously. I also have 25mm early Foundry, large 25/small28mm Dixons, 28mm (Artizan, Knuckleduster, New Foundry, Crusader, others) and these and other "heroic" 28mm, 32mm, and some no consistent scale Reapers, it is very noticeable to me.

I think that most actual old west old west gunfights were at closer rather than longer ranges, in particular OK Corral.

But Coffeyville, Northfield, and many others were as well

John,
Yes, Doc did indeed. The Earps however all had their single revolvers in pockets in their blanket coats.

john lacour29 May 2016 8:16 p.m. PST

I've studied the strret fight in Tombstone for almost 40 years.

One of the better books on the whole situation in Tombstone is "Inventing Wyatt Earp" by allen berra.

Which one is Doctor McCoy? evil grin

Darkoath29 May 2016 11:10 p.m. PST

Ditto from me also on them not being cast in metal… stopped buying from Black Scorpion when they decided to switch to resin. Shame too because I like these sculpts…

nnascati Supporting Member of TMP30 May 2016 12:26 p.m. PST

I honestly really like the resin models. Its the inaccuracies that get me.

Gangrel31 May 2016 12:48 p.m. PST

Best pirate range in the market; I love those figures. And while I miss the hft of metal, Black Scorpion's resin castings are crisper and cleaner than almost anything else, and great value. I picked the new releases up at Salute and they live up to the high standards previously set.

battleeditor01 Jun 2016 8:20 a.m. PST

Fabulous sculpts. Love 'em.

john lacour01 Jun 2016 8:29 a.m. PST

So its too much to ask these designers to do research?

mdauben01 Jun 2016 12:32 p.m. PST

I think most Wild West gamers are more interested in the mythical or cinematic Old West than trying to accurately portray history. Personally, I've got a whole bunch of Wild West miniatures from West Wind's old Cowboy Wars line. They are all modeled on characters from various TV and Movie westerns

Not saying you're wrong or that you aren't justified in not buying them if it bothers you. I just don't think most of the potential customers for these figures would care.

Fisherking01 Jun 2016 3:08 p.m. PST

Absolutely agree with mdauben. Beautiful figures. Prefer metal but will still buy resin.

nnascati Supporting Member of TMP02 Jun 2016 5:03 p.m. PST

mdauben, I certainly can't argue with what you say. But, would it be too much to ask for at least one manufacturer to make figures based on history rather than Hollywood or Osprey books?
