Qu-Ti huh? [teenage boy smirk] She certainly is a "Q-T" evil grin

Very nice minis!

Oh, and I think her full name might have been Qu-Ti-Pi, except if you prounce the first "i" with a long ee sound then why would you say the second "i" with the long eye sound?

He should have red hair.

Excellent 15mm barbarian character and companion. Nicely done and in a very classic pose and style.

Great idea mentioning the add-on potential for using this with historicals to make them fantasy armies.

I don't suppose the barbarian's first inital is a C? Wonderful models. Order is on the way.

Stop it, stop it, stop it. I don't need to start Fantasy and Sci-fi in 15mm but you are making it hard not too. Just cut it out already.

Cheers, Xin

I like that he's based on Barry Windsor-Smith's Marvel Comics take on Conan.

If this scales well with Copplestone's 15mms, I'm a goner. I won't get rid of my 28mm Barbarian army, but I might be adding another scale.

And surely the next sculpt in the series should be a chunky sidekick, Richter the Amused.

I wondered the same thing. Nice play.

Hmmm, now that I think about it, I'd like to see Khurasan expand this line with more takes on classic S&S heroes and anti-heroes: Kull (in kingly garb), Elric, Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser (DC Comics version), Red Sonja (Marvel Comics version), Kane. Those images are all iconic enough that they'd be almost instantly recognizable.

Jirel would be a good addition, too, but her appearance isn't nearly as established or consistent, ranging from a female Prince Valiant (albeit with red hair) to classic pirate garb to topless monokini "armor."

Just this morning I vowed to put a freeze on miniatures spending for the rest of the year – looks like that might go out the window sooner than I thought.

15mm not-Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser are in the Splintered Light's Archer range: link

I like the rest though, Kull is a particular favourite, and I'm currently using pre-painted collectible mini's in 28mm, but would love a chance to paint Thurian Age characters.

Hey, thanks for that, Boy Wundyr X!

No problem, the Archer Collection has a lot of fun characters in it!

His helmet is rather like Gurg of the Nine Fingers from SLAINE

Her name should have been Bu-Ti, since that's what he's looking for.

Those are 15mm?!?! From the picture I would have guessed 25mm. Nice work as usual.

If we are gonna go for iconic fantasy characters how about Dawn?

Might be fun, but then I'd need to have Tony Orlando made to go with them. grin

This brings to mind the artworks from Thrilling Tales pulp magazines.

$4 USD for two 15mm figures? Lovely figures, but $2 USD each? I'll pass out of principle on this one. I love Khurasan's figures, and will continue to buy their Sci-Fi figures, but I can't see spending $2 USD per 15mm figure, unless they come painted.

CooperSteveOnTheLaptop16 Jun 2012 6:35 a.m. PST

Her bra is a bit sensible.

You need to pay top sculptors more, and I like to ask them to make personalities and characters that will really stand out.

The dilemma is, people don't field armies of characters or personalities.

If I release an army of Shock Warriors, and make ten poses, I can be reasonably sure each customer will buy 4-20 of each Shock Warrior pose. So I price them as close to the bone as I can get away with and still earn back my investment. Some day.

With characters, you're not selling 4-20 of each pose. You are selling one of each pose. So I have to price them up in order to have any hope of ever earning back my investment. Again, some day.

I don't personally think that is unprincipled, but it's really a matter of opinion of course.

jpattern2 Supporting Member of TMP16 Jun 2012 9:52 a.m. PST

I have no problem with the price.

Yes, after some back and forth on this, and we decided that Qu-Ti would be a bit on the modest side when it came to her bosom.

DinOfBattle216 Jun 2012 12:54 p.m. PST

I agree that character figures are tough as a volume sell, hence the higher price.

Definitely wouldn't call you "unprincipled". You need to run your business in order to eventually make money. :-)

I really do appreciate all your work in this hobby as the figures you are putting out are tremendous.

Good luck with these!

Ah, THE perfect hero for Round the King. Nice work.

boy wundyr x Supporting Member of TMP16 Jun 2012 5:24 p.m. PST

I'm ok with the price, it's a perfect "prime" literary barbarian, to go with the "youth" barbarian of SLM, just need King O'Brien to complete the arc. I have all three statted up for Songs of Blades & Heroes.

Jon, these are outstanding. Coincidentally, I am on the last story of a Robert E. Howard Conan anthology I picked up on sale last month (I *am* a complete sucker for books on sale!).

Any chance you'll be doing some "not-Hyborean Age" minions/followers to go along with King O'Brien and Q-T?"

I think the hyborian age troops are by and large based on historical types, although I have thought about it, Leland.

BlackWidowPilot Supporting Member of TMP Fezian16 Jun 2012 10:26 p.m. PST

Jon,

ayup. that they are indeed. I assume you're old enough to remember Ral Partha's 25mm offerings so long ago? I tend to view the Hyboran Age as a great excuse for artists to channel their inner Oscar Wilde and steal their favorite elements of weapons and armour from ancient history…evil grin

Over on the Conan/Robert E. Howard forum (http://www.conan.com/invboard/index.php?act=idx) there have been a few threads on who was what in the Hyborian Age. Other than a few that appear to be mash-ups, most were pretty easy matches.

outstanding sculpts, assumed these were 28mm when i first looked at them, nice work!

Mr. Khurasan, I am eager to throw my money at you for more 15mm fantasy.

Ganesha Games Sponsoring Member of TMP17 Jun 2012 1:45 p.m. PST

I have many 28mms that are put to shame by the details on this 15mm. Fantastic sculpt and painting. well done.

Personally, I think tying figure cost to expected sales volume makes a lot of sense; especially if the manufacturer is direct about it. I like character models and I'll only ever buy one, so I don't mind paying extra for what amounts to the service of having it provided. Heck, I feel the same way about whole ranges. For something super obscure and niche, like say, Yayoi period Japanese, I would completely understand being asked to pay a dollar or two a model, even for rank and file, since maybe three people would ever buy the range.

Oh, and awesome fantasy barbarian!
