Extremely good looking figures. I can see me piling in for a few boxes. Any chance that may be availlable to buy at Colours? If so I,ll start saving now. |

Good looking miniatures. I love figs with lots of creases. The real question/problem : How will they match-up with other ranges? |
| nycjadie | 01 Aug 2008 6:38 a.m. PST |
All that detail looks
intimidating. Pictors – How many of these are you going to end up painting? |

I'm going to end up painting a ton of them, I'm sure. The real question is how many am I going to end up painting for myself! This whole plastic thing is really putting the boots to my time budget and making my wargamers ADD kick into overdrive. I just bought some of the WG celts at historicon and having put together four of them now I have to say that they are best looking celts I've ever done. These British look to be of, at least, the same level. When I saw some in their online store the other day I was hoping that I could buy them already. I am very excited, to say the least, about their impending release. |

From their website : "In the near future we anticipate producing other nations such as Austrians, Russians and Prussians. " Aaaah
music to my ears! |
| Serotonin | 01 Aug 2008 6:55 a.m. PST |
Oh god
I am so going to have to get into 28mm Napoleonics. These and perry's French will be perfect for Sharp Practice. |
| mweaver | 01 Aug 2008 7:06 a.m. PST |
I love those figures. I am a big, big fan of multi-part plastic figures that you can pose. I have done scores of the Mordheim mercenaries/Empire militia guys, and I have as much fun working on the poses as I do painting them. It sounds like these figures are designed to be as flexible as that GW set (by far the best GW plastic set, in my opinion). I have never played Napoleonics, but I don't care. I'm buying some of these guys as soon as they are available. (I did buy a copy of "Sharp Practice" a couple of months ago). |

| El Mercenario | 01 Aug 2008 7:14 a.m. PST |
Although I'm not a fan of plastic i've nothing to say but
beautiful! Love them, especially the stovepipes! Great work! Javier |
| Landorl | 01 Aug 2008 7:16 a.m. PST |
The detail on those look to be as good as many of the metal figs that I have seen. |
| basileus66 | 01 Aug 2008 7:21 a.m. PST |
"In the near future we anticipate producing other nations such as Austrians, Russians and Prussians." Come on! Not Portuguese or Spanish troops? There are a ton of ranges for Austrians, Russians and bloody-Prussians (Calpe, anyone?) But Portuguese and Spanish, it doesnt
Just the overpriced Foundry range and the old Front Rank!! For Pete's sake!! I want Peninsula! Not more Waterloo-Germany!!! Ufff
I need to let that out of my breast! Nice figures, by the way

Bas -- Peninsular is coming, too. From the Victrix site: Our first 4 sets: * VX0001 – Waterloo British Infantry Centre Company * VX0002 – British Peninsular Infantry Centre Company * VX0003 – Waterloo British Infantry Flank Company * VX0004 – British Peninsular Infantry Flank Company |

Available in the US when? |

- Come on! Not Portuguese or Spanish troops? There are a ton of ranges for Austrians, Russians and bloody-Prussians (Calpe, anyone?) - What are you talking about? Nobody makes Prussians BUT Calpe, and Russians and Austrians ranges are not that common either. But then again, I think it's all a matter of perception and what each of us wants to see. I agree about Waterloo though, 1815 is way over-represented in miniatures. |
| a1companion | 01 Aug 2008 7:48 a.m. PST |
Excellent minis, credit where credit is due, who is the sculptor? |
| Slave2Darkness | 01 Aug 2008 8:52 a.m. PST |
Very nice. Almost makes me want to do Napolionics (and that's saying a lot). |
| nazrat | 01 Aug 2008 8:52 a.m. PST |
They ARE nice! As far as sculptor credit goes, I really miss the days when most companies had the name of the artist who created the miniatures at the bottom of the page or mentioned in articles about the models. Nowadays it seems like many manufacturers treat the guys who create the miniatures as faceless hired help. It's sad. |
| Footslogger | 01 Aug 2008 8:55 a.m. PST |
I don't want a new Victrix website. I JUST WANT THE FIGURES! |

28mm is back! And in a big way. |
| WarWizard | 01 Aug 2008 9:04 a.m. PST |
I can see doing a Hougomont or La Haye Sainte skirmish with these. |
| Luke Warm | 01 Aug 2008 9:34 a.m. PST |
Phawww! Spookily we were discussing a return to Naps down at the club and waiting for the much rumoured plastics was mentioned
. These look top draw although the stovepipes look a bit odd/funny in the pics but could it be the camera angle? I look forward to seeing them in the flesh. Will you do Portuguese? If you know your Iberian stuff you'll realise theres as many P's as B's
Big question is how are they size wise and will they fit in with say Perry or Front Rank? You know there 28mm and there's 28mm ;-) |
Rdfraf | 01 Aug 2008 11:20 a.m. PST |
I keep telling myself that I am not going to do plastics but with these it's going to be hard not to buy some. |
| Artilleryman | 01 Aug 2008 12:14 p.m. PST |
Victrix have told me that they may try to release 1809 Austrians next year for the 200th anniversary of Wagram etc. Hold me back! Of course this is a commercial enterprise, so if we want it to succeed we need to buy the figures. Get your wallets out people! |
| Cheriton | 01 Aug 2008 4:25 p.m. PST |
>>>first of all i wish to Victrix a long life and big success .<<< I certainly second that
as well as to ourselves in order to have the time to paint all in this incredibly bountiful future being promised of late in the hobby. I suppose a toast to having enough money to spend would be in order as well. |
Augustus | 01 Aug 2008 8:46 p.m. PST |
So this is the end of 1/72 plastics. |
| Acharnement | 01 Aug 2008 8:49 p.m. PST |
These look terrific so I hate to gripe but I can't use 52 figures for the level of skirmishes I play. About half that would be fine. I wonder if there is any chance of Victrix doing a smaller set, or perhaps a mixed box of 50 with half of one side and half of the enemy side, whoever that might be. That aside, these are on my wish list. |
Augustus | 01 Aug 2008 8:50 p.m. PST |
But at $40.00 USD a box plus overseas shipping
. |
| TheRifleman | 01 Aug 2008 9:37 p.m. PST |
These are great! Hopefully another nail in the Old Glory coffin! |
| The Hound | 01 Aug 2008 9:39 p.m. PST |
These are great figures it will be nice to play mass battle penninsular war games on a budget now |
| mweaver | 01 Aug 2008 10:08 p.m. PST |
Acharnement: "I wonder if there is any chance of Victrix doing a smaller set, or perhaps a mixed box of 50 with half of one side and half of the enemy side" If there are duplicate sprues used to make the 52 guys in a regular box, then putting together a box like you describe would be fairly easy and probably pretty marketable. It is an interesting idea. Of course, they may also sell sprues separately. |
| freewargamesrules | 02 Aug 2008 1:24 a.m. PST |
I hope nobody does figures for the Tricorne figures in 28mm plastics or I'm going to be absolutely broke!! |
| kingscarbine | 02 Aug 2008 2:56 a.m. PST |
Very nice Victrix! Although some are reluctant to use plastic (hola Javi!), I'm going to sell my 15mm Peninsular armies and start all over, so I hope the "Fighting Cocks" and "Ulcerous" Spaniards will be represented too. |
| austinjacobite | 02 Aug 2008 8:55 a.m. PST |
Very nice
How do these compare size-wise with other ranges? |
| dewitt | 03 Aug 2008 10:53 a.m. PST |
They should match the Perry's Naps closely |
| Arteis | 03 Aug 2008 11:02 a.m. PST |
Intriguing that the logo and artwork are reminiscent of the old Airfix igures many of us cut our teeth on! Looks an interesting range
|
| El Brazo de Nelson | 03 Aug 2008 12:49 p.m. PST |
At the end, plastic figures, i dont understand why not before! i know that its no easy, but its a dream of all wargamers, now i can make the real number in a company british infantery, jejejej, really fantastic, youre great! Un abrazo from Canary Island!!! |
| dewitt | 03 Aug 2008 1:06 p.m. PST |
Hard Plastic figures are simply fantastic but the cost for manufacturing these figures looks to be fantastic too ! That's probably why we didn't find any of them before. Now new tooling technics have made their evolution and probably permit new companies to come on the market. Time are changing and it seems that we are entering a new aera in the hobby with more affordable figures being multiposed, that will complement our old metal fellows. |
Coyote | 03 Aug 2008 9:10 p.m. PST |
The stovepipes look like they are bent, as if the sculptor wanted to show that british stovepipes weren't perfect cylinders, especially during a campaign. I'm really looking forward to these miniatures. The faces do look a little cartoonish. I wonder if they will look better smaller, where the exaggerated features will look good. If not, I can live with cartoony faces, it reminds me of illustrations in stories by Dickens. |
| Whatisitgood4atwork | 03 Aug 2008 11:18 p.m. PST |
"Intriguing that the logo and artwork are reminiscent of the old Airfix igures many of us cut our teeth on!" Yes, the name has the echo of Airfix about it too. I look forward to an set of oversize British Hussars and undersize French Cuirassier – and a wonderful set of RHA of course. I'll almost certainly be buying some. Possibly lots. |
| kingscarbine | 04 Aug 2008 3:48 a.m. PST |
"The faces do look a little cartoonish." I too think the features are a bit exaggerated and make them all look like old soldiers
but that's OK by me. The conversion possibilities of plastic are great. How many different armies have been built with Airfix veterans? |
| Whatisitgood4atwork | 04 Aug 2008 4:07 a.m. PST |
[These are great! Hopefully another nail in the Old Glory coffin!] I must agree 100% on your first observation and disagree 100% on your second. OG is variable, but has some very nice ranges. |
| sma1941 | 05 Aug 2008 3:36 a.m. PST |
If the 2nd Gemeration Old Glory Nappies are on par with the new American Civil War figures they just released then it's the new plastics manufacturers that need to watch out. Just as nice, or nicer, and cheaper. But I think the hobby is large enough to support all the different figure companies. |
| colin knight | 05 Aug 2008 3:09 p.m. PST |
These look to be some of the finest figures sculpted for any range. And plastic, a big winner. |
| purplebavarian | 06 Aug 2008 8:59 a.m. PST |
cannot wait to get hold of them should speed the perrys up |

| christot | 08 Aug 2008 2:17 a.m. PST |
Mr Blakeney-Edwards is also behind the Valiant WWII hard plastic figures. Lets hope hes learned to make these figs compatable with existing 28mm ranges |
