Looks interesting. As a retired Army intelligence officer, I continue to have an interest in how tactical and operational intelligence activities were developed (or not developed). I'll have to put this book on my "to buy" list. Jim |

A ranger at Chattanooga National Military Park remarked that Army bases were named after Confederate generals that failed, like Hood and Polk. I told him that Fort Devens, Mass, the fort that hosts Army intelligence, was named after the division CO in Howard's XI Corps that was hit by Jackson's flank attack at Chattanooga. That said, I'm interested i this book. |

This really shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who has read Fishell's comprehensive "The Secret War for the Union" about the founding and subsequent activities of The Bureau for Military Intelligence, the forerunner of modern G2 sections. |

I got my copy yesterday and started reading it last night. Hopefully a book report on it later. Jim |
