Really nice minis all of them. Did Tatars take part in the Thirty Years War? May be a stupid question, but I am not an expert on the TYW. Or should these miniatures be used for the Polish-Cossack-Tatar War in the aftermath of the TYW? |

Not really, but now we are covering the east. We have to divide the ranges but they are still in Tercio. They acted as auxiliars of the Turks, allies of the Cossack rebellion of 1648 and bythemselves raiding in Polonia and Russia |

Very nice. I have Totentanz armies for the TYW based on the Tercio rules. Do the sword and buckler men fight as separate units or are they part of the pike blocks? Regards |

In the XVII they were used mostly for assaults, although the rules let you add sword and buckler or halberdiers to que squadrons. Besides Maurice of Nassau armed his guard troops with sword and buckler. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodeleros |
