That shell is way too big! However as an ensemble they look OK.

Would have liked a winter crew of some sort.

i don't think it matters that the shell is too big, it doesn't really need to fit in the breech. it's more important that shell be big enough that you can paint neato details on it. great looking little model.

Ironically I'm not in the market for the gun but would cheerfully buy a whole pack of the crew (3 of each gunner & 2 of the spotter, say?) to use on other equipment or convert…

Just the thing to get the attention of my French chars (especially the Char B1bis)….evil grin

Now if I could only convince Mark to make a 47mm 37SA, as the *Germans* used over 400 captured examples in Russia, the Balkans, Italy, and occupied France from 1941-44:

Is there a 50mm coming anytime soon? Definitely needed for those early Eastern Front encounters.

And motorcycle troops to go with it, oui!evil grin

That heartfelt wish aside, a 47mm 37SA would make far more sense from a marketing standpoint, as it saw such protracted service in the Wehrmacht and all Mark would have to do is sell the German and French gun crew figures separately…

The comment from "aegiscg47" got me wondering how many Pak38 were in service during Operation Barbarossa, as the Wehrmacht was still relying on the Pak 36 and using captured 37SA and other anti-tank guns of foreign manufacture to try and make up the anti-tank firepower shortfalls of the poor lil' ole Pak 36…. I wonder if a Heer unit would have been just as likely as not to have a French 37SA rather than an actual 5 cm Pak 38 when Operation Barbarossa kicked off…

Amen Leland.

Aegis, there are PaK38s from Army Group North, Artizan and Bolt Action.

The Artizan one has great crew options but the muzzle break is so bad it ruins the model. I notice they have pulled it from their site. Perhaps for a revision.

I agree with Heinz, we are not making scale models. You're in the wrong hobby if that's what you want. We're making wargames figures that look as good as we can get them when they are painted on the tabletop.

28mm Mortars often have bombs bigger than their tubes, but considering how many Artizan, Crusader, Bolt Action etc have sold over the years, it can't be a big issue with wargamers.

I say painted, because too often on the internet people make judgements of unpainted models, shown 20 time bigger than they are in reality, when that isn't how you should see them.

We did drop the Artizan PaK38, the moulds were getting more and more difficult to get good castings out of.

We will list the crew on their own soon, you can buy the gun on it's own as well.

Porkmann25 Jul 2014 5:21 a.m. PST

Are those PaK 38s going to come back after some muzzle reworking? It was always a problem area on those kits.

boggler25 Jul 2014 7:29 a.m. PST

Good news on the crew. You need five per gun in Chain of Command, so extras are really useful.

NickNorthStar25 Jul 2014 7:56 a.m. PST

We've got the late war version with the bloody great bomb on the end coming next.

CooperSteveOnTheLaptop02 Sep 2014 7:35 a.m. PST

If the shell is too big, I've got lots of spare shells from the PSC Sov guns set for a 45mm & it'll work fine as a 76mm for my Russian infantry gun.
Any chance of a light german horse limber?
