Nice. Now I finally can play massive tank battles. The upcoming supplements 'Battleground Europe: D-Day to Normandy' and 'The Eastern Front' should be good too. |

Unless they charge hub to hub, I ain't buyin' it! . |
Natholeon | 28 Jul 2014 10:14 p.m. PST |
Not just hub to hub. There are rules for piggy backing so that you can get even more tanks onto the table. |

The Eastern Front on an 8' table – Cool! :-P |

I think they are setting themselves up to be the 28mm skirmish version of FoW. I can see a day when Bolt Action has infantry, tank, and mechanized platoons. I fondly recall having 3 Rhinos and two tanks on a 4x6 table so Bolt Action should be able to support 5 vehicles just like 40K |

This is all beginning to remind me of the old 'Battleground WWII' rules supplements and figures e.g. Legendary Tank Hero etc. Anybody else feel this way? |
Porkmann | 29 Jul 2014 7:52 a.m. PST |
Tank vs tank in 28mm is pretty silly! This is great stuff! |
nazrat | 29 Jul 2014 7:53 a.m. PST |
They had it right with the main rule book-- a platoon with support and a tank or two is more than enough to fill a 4 x 6 foot table. More than that in 28mm is kind of ridiculous. But that's never stopped enterprising gamers who love to have more and more and MORE stuff (especially tanks) on the table. I certainly don't fault them for publishing the supplement since they'll probably sell a lot of them. It'll take a lot of heat off of Battlefront when we start seeing all the pictures of scads of tanks rolling hub to hub across tiny tables… 8)= |

Any thought on these rules with FoW 1:100 scale? I agree 28mm/1:56 tank battles seem more like something to do in a gymnasium or tennis court… |
TuffSkull | 29 Jul 2014 10:23 a.m. PST |
With all the comments above taken into due account, I agree with the sentiment entirely, and indeed I like playing primarily 6mm games to get somewhere closer a sense of scale. That said, there is great enjoyment in the odd silly game for the sheer spectacle of it and I am myself in the process of painting a few soviet 28mm vehicles for just such an event coming in November which will be using this new supplement. It's not trying to be historical, just tying to be fun and I'm greatly looking forward to the book and the event! :) I say a few….

Wow. If that's your definition of 'a few,' I would love to see what a larger game would look like. |
Porkmann | 29 Jul 2014 11:36 a.m. PST |
They are in the business of panzer pushing so who can blame them. I, like most, have a ridiculous overkill when it comes to 28mm afvs. It is a game after all! |

Haters gonna hate. I play BA in 15mm and I think 3 tanks per side is a great idea. I for one am looking forward to it. As for 28mm that is their business so obviously the next step in BA would be to add a few more tanks, we are talking more then 1 tank. Big deal, yey as soon as someone posts news like this all the FOW haters get going. FOW is a game, get over it. I play several WW2 games, CoC IABSM BA and yes even FOW. These are games people get over the hatred. |
nazrat | 29 Jul 2014 7:22 p.m. PST |
Erm, so where was all this hate? |
Privateer4hire | 29 Jul 2014 9:57 p.m. PST |
Concur with nazrat's points that BA as first published hits a sweet spot for me. Don't begrudge folks who want to play armored platoon/company games but I don't think I'll be in that crowd. |
Mr Elmo | 30 Jul 2014 4:28 a.m. PST |
Erm, so where was all this hate? Hate now means "criticizing the precious" Personally comments here so far have been reasonable. Those that want to stay infantry focused won't HAVE to use the new selectors so it's all good. |
kmahony111 | 30 Jul 2014 4:30 a.m. PST |
It sounds like the equivalent of 40K Apocalypse for WW2. |

When I first got Bolt Action, I did not pay attention to the platoon minimum (ahem, sort of missed reading that part) before you could field a vehicle, so we tended to play games with whatever we wanted in whatever quantity we wanted – and the game still played exactly as it should even if I had read it correctly. I also tend to play scenarios over points games and we have gamed scenarios from other rulesets with BA as well and it still played great. Or, at least, we had a great time doing it which is just as good! The game can handle it. So what this book really changes is how tournaments are played and what players can take to them as it is an official change to the rules, not an optional one. LOL! Having said that, I am still picking up a copy of the rules! Larry |
GGouveia | 30 Jul 2014 7:52 a.m. PST |
Larry I agree I did the same tjong, conviently added anotger tank to each side for an East front game and it was a blast. |
