Will a PDF version be available?

Anyone know anything about how it plays?

NickNorthStar30 Sep 2014 8:13 a.m. PST

It's been said to be the successor to DBM/ FoG, but I've heard that 2nd hand.

AUXILIAPAL30 Sep 2014 9:45 a.m. PST

Yes, it could be the successor of DBM and Fog but with 2 advantages, no other army lists books or upgrade to buy and fewer figures (up to half the number)…

How it plays?

Well, if you played DBM, you will find some common points, such as PIPs, or army corps. But PIPS are modified by the quality of the generals, who can be un/attached, unlike DBx.

Units can fire according to their weapon type, and succesful shooting/ melees will inflict cohesion loss. Once a unit is down to 0, it routs. They can be rallied of course, depending on the number of PIPs you have.
Skirmishers don't have any zone of control, and are destroyed in the open if contacted by anything heavier than them. But they are useful to skirmish, add some support, and fight in the terrain.

Amongst other things

Is it specifically for a certain period?
Ancient AND Medieval seems like a big chunk?

sebastosfig30 Sep 2014 10:27 a.m. PST

Ancients and medieval.
It works quite well. You have some weapons/ capabilities that will appear in the medieval lists, such as heavy knights, mounted or on foot, longbows, crossbows, firearms… Each of them have a specific, very easy to remember rule .And almost everthing is in the recto-verso QRS. The only thing you won't find in the QRS is the setup.

A French player has made a QRS for it, once again, one A4 paper for everything.

Cheers

Hope the translation is good.

Ancient AND Medieval seems like a big chunk?

Doesn't seem to be a problem for all the other ancient & medieval rulesets out there.

As I said on a previous topic, I have only been for 5 years for these. From Google translations, the rules remind me of Amarti it with a PIP based command system.

I like lots of figures on the table though – I've bought and painted them so I want to use as many of them at the same time as possible :-)

sebastosfig01 Oct 2014 4:39 a.m. PST

Well, in that case, you could choose to play either in 300 or 400pts, instead of the usual 200points. It is covered in the rules, with some specific rules, and then you can have a game with as many figures as FOG, and the same length of play ;)
