A car park? Not enough people owned cars in the 40s to warrant a car park in a village, let alone a town! The Village Green would be more apt.

Some years ago at one of the HMGS conventions in Lancaster, there was a game of this scenario using Nuts rules.

It was very well done and lots of fun. It too had the incompetent colonel.

Sean at the Bunker in the UK used to run a game based on this. Great fun, card driven turns and some rally interesting special action cards. I wrote it up and it was published in Wargames Illustrated back in the early 90s.

I only saw this for the first time earlier in the year. Great 70s war film and a good basis for a scenario. Plus you don't require six boxes of Germans for Clint Eastwood to slaughter.

May I point you in the direction of "Went the Day Well" imdb.com/title/tt0035429 a wartime British film that runs along the same lines only the Germans really are nasty and it's the Home Guard that come to the rescue. There was a time it was on Chanel 4 here in the UK in the afternoon at least once a month.

Again I saw that quite recently, quite dark considering when it was released, the events depicted could have been reality in many people's minds. I agree it would make a great scenario.
