I thought Scythians were horse archers.

Most of them are, but there is a lot of armour in the richer Scythian tombs. These look like quite accurate representations for the 6th-5th centuries.

But I'd still expect them to carry bowcases – can't see any in the photos.

Always liked the proportions of Newline. More Airfix, less bulk.

I have spoken to Sean the owner of Newline about the bow-cases and he has advised that the figures are supplied with separate bow/ bow-cases, and that Newline will be releasing mounted archers with foot archers and javelin men soon. He thought that the armoured chieftains would make a good start.
