Years ago I tried to come up with a viable scenario for this battle that actually gave De Montfort a chance of victory without violating the tactical situation. Best I could come up with was "Simon escapes with Henry in tow," and the odds of that were very, very low. Edward planned it perfectly; De Montfort was doomed.
So I'm interested in how this version played out. |
