H.G. Well's WotW finally gets a decent tabletop miniature game.

Caesar24 Apr 2014 10:59 a.m. PST

This does look good.

elsyrsyn24 Apr 2014 11:42 a.m. PST

The walkers might also be useful as very large walkers for 6mm.

Very nice

Is anyone in the UK stocking them?

NickNorthStar24 Apr 2014 12:27 p.m. PST

North Star will be stocking this range, plus we'll be wholesaling, so I'm expecting this line to be available from lots of good stockists.

PS The pre-order deal will be on the site tonight.

CLDecker24 Apr 2014 1:21 p.m. PST

I went in heavy on the KS so I'll be assembling and painting well past my expiration date.

Stealth100024 Apr 2014 2:06 p.m. PST

This looks kinda interesting. So glad its 15mm. This could catch on down my club. Good stuff.

PzGeneral24 Apr 2014 3:21 p.m. PST

I dropped a bunch on the KS too….my plan is (since I'm the world's slowest painter) do up the "Starter Set" first, then try to add more stuff as we play….I got trenches to help repulse the Martian attacks, but also a crashed pod for when the Humans go on the offensive!!!!

NickNorthStar24 Apr 2014 3:28 p.m. PST

We're getting involved.

My group can't wait for our KS stuff. I bought the massive Overload which I can't wait to see a photo of.

Dasher24 Apr 2014 8:39 p.m. PST

Anyone who knows me knows that I am death on 15mm; I own virtually none.
This game, ALONE, made me break a 35-year personal boycott of 15mm figures and I dove in head first, never looked back, [insert metaphor for absolute commitment here].
I am so excited to b a part of the KS for this and so happy to see I will have LOTS of other people to play it with!
HOORAY!!!

Angel Barracks25 Apr 2014 2:53 a.m. PST

This is one of the few things, very few things, that could tempt me away from 6mm.

DGT12325 Apr 2014 4:23 a.m. PST

Yep I did heavy on the kickstarter too. Cant wait till I get my land ironclad!

Aladdin25 Apr 2014 4:26 p.m. PST

This is going to be great!

RazorMind25 Apr 2014 5:45 p.m. PST

minis look great, but does anyone have a summary or review of the game play?

Aladdin25 Apr 2014 6:06 p.m. PST

I don't really have a review of it, but I played a demo of it from the human side.

It was alot of fun playing 'rock, paper, scissors' with all the various human innovations. You may be technically outgunned, but you can really put the hurt on the Martians when one of your prototype technologies goes off as planned.

The Tesla tank is awe-inspiring if you can get a shot in at the right moment. I kamikaze'd with my minelaying tank, driving right up to the feet of a strider dropping mines and some combination of me and the strider set one off, destroying us both. The humans do very well when dug in, and the machine guns can do a surprising amount of damage when they mass their fire.

Things I learned to hate: hordes of drones swarming over my tank units, and the black smoke being lobbed in by the Martian grenadier tripods at long range.

I didn't get to see the human heavy infantry in action, and can only imagine the destructive power of the larger human and Martian units.

I think they give some idea of the mechanics of the game in one of their video segments- possibly on youtube or on their blog.

I've been fascinated from early on with this and I've had some great one-on-one conversations with Ernie Baker and I'm incredibly impressed with his drive to produce a truly exceptional product. I don't think anyone will be disappointed!

Allen5725 Apr 2014 6:50 p.m. PST

Are the Martian units all tripods? Any infantry or flying units?

Ivan DBA25 Apr 2014 10:01 p.m. PST

They have re-animated corpse infantry, and both walker and hovering drones, aside from the Tripods (of which there are several types).

Whatisitgood4atwork25 Apr 2014 10:04 p.m. PST

I do not need another field to wargame. I do not need … But these look mighty tempting. Great idea meets great looking models. Oh dear.

ajbartman25 Apr 2014 11:11 p.m. PST

There's some videos on their website. I know of these one:

Saw all these items in person. They are quite awesome. Photos do not do justice. My favorites are the assault tripods. But all are very "cool".

Porkmann26 Apr 2014 3:09 a.m. PST

Nice looking models. Surely everyone is going to go tripod!

Manflesh26 Apr 2014 3:19 a.m. PST

I have downloaded the Martian horn sound to my phone to play during games. I for one welcome our tripod overlords…

I used to meet a Tripod every day on the way to my former office. He was quite jolly. Although the the position of his legs suggest he may have had one Martian schnapps too many.

Slotministry26 Apr 2014 5:31 a.m. PST

Yep, I bought in big on the KS too. If I can get my painting arm in gear, I'll make sure games are run at Fall-in and Cold Wars since I live in the area.

Allen5726 Apr 2014 5:47 a.m. PST

Hey porkman. That tripod is kinda cool. Where is it?

Porkmann26 Apr 2014 5:50 a.m. PST

Allen,he is in the dreadful commuter town of Woking, Surrey!

There is an H.G. connection hence the tripod 😀

My office was in the building at the end of the street until redundancy surfaced!

legatushedlius26 Apr 2014 7:14 a.m. PST

Being in a tripod might help you to get out of Woking's horrible one-way traffic system, at least.

I don't like 15mm but still…maybe when the British come out!

Allen5726 Apr 2014 7:57 a.m. PST

Hmmmm! Woking. Long way from Minnesota just to get a look and a picture. Guess I will copy yours.

Im having a hard time resisting this game. I don't do 15mm but it is certainly tempting. All the miniatures I have seen so far look really great but I can do WotW in 2 or 6mm with the models I already have.

Can anyone give a review of the rules? I could see myself buying those.

Porkmann26 Apr 2014 8:00 a.m. PST

I have ideas for my remaining 1914 Germans.

As for Woking, it is not worth a 5 minute drive 😢

Although there is a good vegetable market on Fridays…

Grignotage26 Apr 2014 12:29 p.m. PST

I love this range! I unfortunately didn't have the funds at the time to support the kickstarter, but I think I'll be buying some of these soon.

Orcbuddy26 Apr 2014 8:27 p.m. PST

I also went in big on the Kickstarter…..like I needed another project…..going with the largest pledge level and a bunch of add-on's. But it was just too tempting and you really got a tripod-load of stuff.

Plus, they're already looking at who'll be in the next round of belligerents produced for this little solar system set-to and they look great!

madmick26 Apr 2014 9:33 p.m. PST

Curteys Miniatures will be carrying stock at UK shows aswell as on the web.

Porkmann27 Apr 2014 5:58 a.m. PST

I reckon those Weird World War One figures from Warrior will be great for this in 28mm. Perhaps with a few LKII courtesy of Tobsen 77. Now I have to figure oit where to source big tripods.

NickNorthStar28 Apr 2014 4:41 a.m. PST

We've announced our pre-order selection for All Quiet..

You and me both, Grignotage! Really wanted in on the KS but the timing was bad; definitely planning on getting into the game once it hits general release. Obviously it looks like Architects of War are going to be carrying it in the US, any else? Warstore?
