Great!
More "heroic SS" yarns!
Lemme see if I can dig out any quarters from the couch cushions. Maybe if I cash in my beer cans.
Lemme see…..

Wow! Another exercise in hero worship of Nazis. Can we get some more books about the heroic Americans or Free French some day?

Glad to see that others are as uncomfortable as I am about the implications of such publications.

I mean, as history it's a subject as valid as any other, but if there is any attempt to separate the "heroics" of SS bitter enders from their other activities, then history is not being served, but some worrisome politics is.

No SS hero- worshipping or not even trying to sweet-talk some of the atrocities they surely committed.
The few that survived were considered ( not unjustly) as traitors to their country and were either executed, murdered or lived the rest of their lives in exile.

But purely from a military point of view these men can also proudly say 'We Were Soldiers'

That is uncomfortably close to saying "But you have to respect them because…"
Sorry Bud. I refuse to respect SS collaborators for anything.
Before they shipped out to the Front, they probably had a jolly old time rounding up Jews. Screw them. They get no respect from me.
Anyone of whom Hitler can say that if he had a son, he would want him to be like Degrelle… that says it all.

I'm with the OFM. The important thing is why they fight, not how.

With John on this one. Very strongly.

I don't care what you call them. This one book I won't be buying.
