And in addition we have too, the German Assault Engineers range available right now… yes with his raft and crew.

Apologies for asking, but before buying anything, I'd personally like to know whats going on?

All seems rather confusing for a consumer…

These companies are not licensed to reproduce these miniatures. The one who buys them will receive the figures in a horrible state.

Agreed. I received an email from Capitan over the weekend announcing that several of the 20mm Ranges were back in production.

Now, as Piers points out we have this legal situation between Xan and Capitan.

I have put in knowledge of my authors association in Spain, VEGAP. As partner, I take refuge in the agreement with the British association DACS, they will do the necessary negotiations in UK, in order that the figures is withdrawn. Best wishes.

Capitan Games Ltd. has been the distributor, for several years, of the former Fantassin Miniatures (later Warmodelling) and Capitan Miniatures ranges. Any person or organisation making comments that insinuate or directly state that Capitan Games Ltd, its officers, staff or associated companies are not acting according to British law or good business practice, will be pursued by our lawyers for libel. We have no further comment to make at this time, but to reiterate that any person or organisation in any country insinuating or stating that we are not acting lawfully or correctly, will be required by our lawyers to attend a British court and demonstrate proof of their allegations

PiersBrand17 Jan 2017 11:29 a.m. PST

Good luck with that.

I guess he goes to a police station and will say, Mr. Police, Mr. Police, I do one thing that is a crime, and bad people, he tells it on the internet.

So, Capitan is (has been) the distributor: who owns the 20mm Ranges – that's the legal question correct-?

Xan Miniatures Sponsoring Member of TMP17 Jan 2017 1:29 p.m. PST

I am the owner, the author. The only one who can give him permission to make copies, did not give it to him.
In addition, where has it been that a distributor makes molds of the figures of a manufacturer?
Warmodelling SL and Captain Miniatures SL, do not manufacture. Do not confuse with Capitan games LTD, that's another company.
It's all said. They have no permission from anyone, and I warn that they are pirate figures and in what state they are.
The one who buy them, you know what you do.
I return to my work table, I have many new figures to finish and many broken old Fantassin to repair, transform and improve.
People with more power than me, is already in charge of this matter.
Best wishes.

A quick search of TMP brought up this dated 26th Jan 2015

Hi Everyone:

Sorry about our apparent disappearance from the scene. As UK agent (Battle Models Ltd), I ceased my association with Warmodelling because I was unable to obtain reliable supplies from the factory. However, my colleagues at Capitan Games and I decided to set up a UK company and I'm now happy to announce that Capitan Games Ltd, that very company, are now re-furbishing the old Warmodelling moulds to commence production in the UK.
A well-known UK trader will represent us at shows and we will re-open the online shop as soon as we have our first supply of figures. That should be within the next week or so.
The process of re-stocking the entire Warmodelling range will take some time and we have decided to re-introduce the figures over a period. First will be Napoleonic British, then French Garde, then French regular and so on.
The Capitan ranges are also to be produced over here and will form part of our online shop offerings. Fortunately, these moulds are fairly new and will not need refurbishment. We have just taken delivery of the masters for our "Gunboat" miniatures range (boat kits and figures) but this time in 10 mm scale – which allows us to add a frigate and a sloop to the boat kits. The new lines will be demo'd at "Salute" this year with the rules updated and re-issued as "Squadron Commander". You'll still be able to get the old 15 mm figures and Gunboat rules from Caliver Books and our website.
The new company has a very extensive list of projects for the next year or so. We can be found on Facebook as capitangames and we issue a newsletter to our existing mailing list – you can join by going to: http//:shop.capitangames.com/ and a new service for our Divisional Commander tactical Napoleonic rules can be found at link
If anyone needs further information, contact us on info@capitangames.com.
Cheers,
Mike Oliver
Director – Capitan Games Ltd

God wills it17 Jan 2017 2:37 p.m. PST

I think that basically says… we could not get the figures from the source so decided to make our own moulds and sell them as our own figures????

Basically…..

Interesting as I only recently purchased some Fantassin minis from Stonewall Figures in the UK. Are these licenced? Some of them looked pretty rough casts, but some were in original Fantassin packaging and were much better.

vogless19 Jan 2017 6:25 a.m. PST

@Piers: AWESOME!

@ Capitan games: Nice job threatening people with the powdered wigs. My knees are shaking. Still not sure what's what, but I know who I'll be ordering from now.

Yeah me too can anyone advise?

Pete the Wargamer19 Jan 2017 11:56 a.m. PST

Apparently they are not licenced either.

Xan Miniatures Sponsoring Member of TMP19 Jan 2017 12:27 p.m. PST

Sure, they are not licenced.
If I have a lear: Police station.
I don't fear, I write the true.

Good enough for me Xan. Could you tell me if you will be producing the Carlist War range again? Thank you and you too Pete.

Xan Miniatures Sponsoring Member of TMP21 Jan 2017 4:40 a.m. PST

To finish and to tackle this matter. I am going to re-throw all the Fantassin's ranges, of which I am an author. This will take me enough time, since I have to arrange all originals broken. But everything will be returned to the market, improved and molten good.

Royal Marine21 Jan 2017 12:38 p.m. PST

GL.

Pete the Wargamer21 Jan 2017 5:22 p.m. PST

Looking forward to the new releases.

Oh Bugger24 Jan 2017 7:58 a.m. PST

Thanks Xan.
