They look as if they might be nice models, but under the poor high gloss paintjob (which seems to make photographing them difficult) I cannot tell. They look worse paint wise than the old Britains models I had as a kid. Has anyone bought them unpainted and painted them up themselves? They would be nice for some skirmish gaming – maybe as 'toy soldiers' in the back garden (as I started playing many years back)

Tradition of London produces classic toy soldiers with classic paint jobs. That's what they do. So that's not really surprising.

"not surprising", I assume refers to the gloss coat. While I never owned any 54's, those I did see 'were' done with a glossy finish to them.

As for these, I think they look pretty good. Granted I prefer matte/dull coat when sealing miniatures, I think it give them a more 'realistic' look.

I "started" on Tradition "Toy" figures after I was given a few figures from a relative over(?) fifty years ago. Those and "Airfix" were *my* "wargaming" minis. Later I bought minis by Bussler and others.

Fond memories of Tradition figs…

Glad to see they're still around!

thumbs up
