I'm a fan of Iron Ivan Games, but $25 USD for a PDF? Seriously? Pass. |

Still reading through mine and although a bit steep…I have big hopes for it so far. Looks like it can do generic scifi and "laser sword knights" too. |

I agree with MiniatureWargaming dot com: $25 USD for a PDF? That makes it an obvious pass for me. |

I would happily sell my very nice copy of Tomorrow's War for the $25.00 USD to use on Age Of Saints. -Edgar |

Surely it is the content that has value, not the media? We are going to have to bid farewell to paying more for the process than we do for the work. 145 pages represents a lot of work. I know this is a topic which has been discussed before and the usual outcome is that gamers don't like paying much for PDF's. I'm starting to move away from printing out copies of PDFs and just firing up my laptop or tablet whenever I need more than a QRS. |

With you Capt Flash, if I could get 25.00 for my copy I sell it as well and get this set, |

Sadly I doubt I could get that from my local guys. Several bought the book and not a single one could get past the layout. |

The truth is nobody knows what a PDF is supposed to be worth. |

The driving costs of at least some PDFs is the amount of artwork commissioned. For instance, one could compare this title to Song of Blades and Heroes which retails for $8 USD (or maybe only $4 USD!). But Andrea is both a clever game designer and a fantastic artist. So he is only paying for his artwork used with time…as in time to create each piece. This is a considerable advantage for discounting product prices. $25 USD does seem pretty high for a PDF but I don't know the amount of source material or anything else that goes into this product. The book looks attractive. |

Artwork (amount and quality), layout, editing, page count, utility, name of writer, name of publishing company, niche appeal and the precarious whims of an uncaring universe +/-1D6 will establish the correct pricing :) |

hows the mechanics look/play? I am always a sucker for a new set of rules and one to use with my exsisting "sci fi" minis shall we say would be cool thanks |

$25.00 USD does seem a bit steep for a PDF, whatever the content. In the good ol' days when we were treated to the luxury of proper printed books then that sort of price could be justified. But seriously, $25.00 USD for a digital file? Sorry, but it seems that as printed products go into decline then companies are upping the price for the PDF's rather than passing on the production savings to us mere mortals. Yes, I'm old-fashioned & stuck in my ways, so have no interest in any of these new-fangled 'PDF only' rules anyway – certainly NOT at that sort of price!!! |

Mechanics of the game are very similar to DH, players roll for Initiative, draw Host Talent Cards if they are fielding a Host user, then take turns Activating their Groups inwhich they move or fire or charge into melee. Player build their force with points and archetype templates. Forces are roughly 30 models plus vehicles led by a Leader Character and possibly a Companion Character. Leaders and Companions have multiple points of Fate and roll on Epic Wounds tables for damage, Minions have a single point of Fate and when reduced to Zero Fate are removed from play. Weapons and armor are based in 4 categories, Kinetic, Beam, Catalyst and Arkane and have different rules that govern them. Vehicles and Characters have abilities and upgrades that can be purchased and built off of their templates. Leader and Companion Characters can also have Relics that add to their gear. Games usually run about 2 hours in length. Hope that helps! Doc |

never playing DH it gives me some info ;-P thanks… assuming I pick a human with a "beam" and lt armor is worth (X)points and a green skinned "tough" alien with a kinetic weapon is worth (Y)points kinda thing? |
Doctor Merkury | 31 Mar 2015 11:30 a.m. PST |
Similar, A player could choose to build off of the Civil Guard template who would be the planetary security force, this has a base points cost for the stats. Next they would choose weapons, armor and gear adding these points to the base point cost. Lastly they would purchase Abilities, like wings or excellent at melee etc. This would just be for a Minion, basic Character. Personalities like Leaders and Companions have access to more Abilities and Relics for more points. |
