They look good! Might the velites/leves sprue become separately available? The velites/leves should be great for slave legion conversions, as well as for conversions into light-order legionaries of the Marian period.

P.S.: Isn't it centurion with an "o"…?

These look very good indeed – well done.

They do look quite nice. My only quibble would be with the way the shields are held, my understanding being that the scutum was generally held close to the body, with the left hand being near the hip. Holding the thing out away from the body like that would get tiring in a hurry, now matter how badass your Romans are.

Seem to be the time of doublets – shortly after the Perrys WF announces an AWI line, and this here comes the day after Agemas republican romans become available (via Northstar).

I am looking forward to combine these sets…

They look really good. I'm sure the Carthaginians will be welcomed.

Extremely excited by this, I might resurrect my 28mm Punic Wars project.

Yes but lets not forget the wagons, artillery, camps and so on and lets all remember that technology appears to be making all this stuff happen better for manf. KEEP GOING.

I have resisted the Greeks , but this is like a gun to my wallet. I have a very large Marion roman army , but these guys are calling to me.

thabear18 Apr 2014 3:27 p.m. PST

DOH , I bought into the Hoplites big time , never expecting Romans to be on the horizon , and now Italian allies and Carthaginians following up behind ,,,, oh now what to do ?

cheers Tom

Let's see…if I double the DBA base width & depth, and put 4x number of figures, that's 16 per base for the Bd and Sp, 8 per Ps. If I remember correctly Polybian Roman is 2xPs, 6xBd, 2xSp and 2xCv, so the total foot figure count is 16 Ps, 96 Bd, 32 Sp = 144. 3 box will do it with plenty to spare. Hmmm…I guess 2 boxes of the 1st set and 1 of the 2nd (for the Hastati). Now I just need to find some cavalry.

And with the Cathaginians, French artillery and the 1/100 aircraft coming up, I see lots of my money heading Victrix's way.

These look like fun! : )

waaslandwarrior19 Apr 2014 12:19 p.m. PST

Still no Napoleonic cav on the horizon?

Suetonius Paullinus19 Apr 2014 1:38 p.m. PST

I bought both new Greek sets at Salute and am extremely pleased how they've turned out.
If anything the Romans look even better, so count me in with 3 boxes.

But you will get more serious money from me if/ when you get your WWI project right.

I don't care much about aircraft (unless it's spitfires and hurricanes) and I've got more Napoleonics than I can possibly paint but should the announced plastic WWI range be anywhere near Musketeer Miniatures or Mutton Chop I'm gonna need a porter for Salute to carry off what I will purchase from your stall.
So pretty please..make them GREAT!!

Cheers

Looking forward to seeing the Carthaginians. I had sold off my Republican and Carthaginian stuff in 28 mm long time ago. Seeing this makes me want to come back to it.

pegasusfridge21 Apr 2014 3:13 a.m. PST

I sold off my 15's years ago and always vowed to do Punic Wars again if plastic 28mm made it viable. With these and Agema it looks like it might be possible. Elephants and cavalry in plastic would obviously make the whole thing a dream.

STEVE LBMS21 Apr 2014 4:45 a.m. PST

Really pleased to see a lot of positive feedback on our Romans.

In answer to SP's question about the WW1 stuff. We put that on hold for a little while. The figures were not looking right and we took on board a lot of the feedback from customers. It is an evocative period for a lot of people and the figures have to look right.

We will be resuming the WW1 sets pretty soon.

Regards,

Steve.

I, too, swore I'd start a Punic Wars project if it was affordable in 28mm. I'm in.

Added to all this fun will the the plentiful conversion opportunities. These kits will likely have all kinds of bits and figures usable for my Spartacus revolt. Can't wait.

pegasusfridge21 Apr 2014 3:20 p.m. PST

Steve, any hint of cavalry and elephants being done in plastic?
