Sorry to hear it, but good for you! You have some beautiful ranges. I hope someone picks them up and continues the legend. So it is still possible to place an order through your website for a limited time?

Good luck!

That was a tough decision I am sure. have you considered keeping a small part of you in the business, in order to keep your passion busy? Maybe putting on show games to promote the ranges?

Good luck to you anyway.

Sad to see you leave but completely understand!

All the best to you and your family.

Oh No, I was going to put a big order in for Christmas. Thanks for your friendly approach to your customers, a real pleasure to buy from you. Good products too. I hope someone picks the ranges up soon, it would leave a big hole in the industry if they were to disappear.

Doug---thanks for your many years of putting up with us wargamers. I remember the days when your Dad ran the business, and once visiting you at your home in Fl and buying some of the Connoiseur ACW figs,

Good luck!

I've been a customer of Doug's since the Redoubt days. Always a great guy to do business with.

I haven't bought anything from him in a long time but I remember when I started to collect sending him my orders for Redoubt's FFL range the the Sudan range. Never once did I have a problem.Doug I hope you enjoy your retirement for a long long time.

Seems like a sound decision.

I'm sure you'll be pleased with all the extra free time you'll now have, and the reduction in stress.

Enjoy your retirement and gaming!

Like many others, I bought from you in the past and was very pleased.

Good luck in the future.

P.S.--You and Sash and Saber should talk. There might be a deal there. And you don't even have to pay me a commission.

Good luck.

Best of luck to you Doug. You've earned it. I still have and game with many of your miniatures as well as some of the F&I War buildings your parents made.

All the best to you, Doug! Thanks for your service! BTW, still have the Gurkhas you painted for me back in '88, they're still keeping those wiley Pathans at bay!

The Hound12 Oct 2018 5:19 p.m. PST

best of luck

Good for you. People who retire from work always make me a bit envious and look forward to my own retirement.

Here's wishing for 40mm's (the one true scale in this thread at least) continued success.

I have fond memories of poring over the Redoubt catalog, putting a pair of Turk/Pole armies together. Those catalogs were illustrated with the best line drawings ever!

Ahhh, you guys are bringing back good memories. I really thank you for being so kind to me and for the great fun we have had talking Miniatures together.

coopman13 Oct 2018 6:49 a.m. PST

Doug, I wish you all the best and a long and healthy retirement.

Hlaven13 Oct 2018 7:24 a.m. PST

Doug:
The very best for you on your retirement. I still have all my Redoubt ACW I had bought from you. I also still have most of the buildings your Mom and Dad made. Thank you for all your excellent service over the years.

KSmyth13 Oct 2018 7:31 a.m. PST

Doug, I am looking at retirement at the end of this school year. The idea of having my own time that I manage as I see fit is an incredible lure. I get it.

Thanks for all your years of service to this community. I used to order Front Rank figures from you bac in the day. I always thought your switch to 40mm was very gutsy.

Enjoy your well-earned break from business, and enjoy your time.

Gone Fishing13 Oct 2018 8:18 a.m. PST

It's been years since I ordered from you, Doug (Redoubt Sudan and the old Bushi range!), but I have only the fondest memories of the transactions and your integrity, and though I resisted the siren call of your 40mm ranges I've always greatly admired their quality. You will be missed.

Enjoy your retirement and gaming! Possibly post here with pics on occasion?

With best wishes for your future,

Daryl

Congratulations on the retirement. Hopefully I will see you soon to get in a game.

Tricorne197118 Oct 2018 1:06 p.m. PST

Have a great retirement Doug. It doesn't seem that long ago that I brought a few samples of the first Redoubt figures over to your house in Clearwater. The rest is history.

Yes Ken, Redoubt was my first Range I actually carried. Prior to that I painted figures for others. I do remember when you came over and brought some Redoubt samples of this new company that Peter Helm had started in the UK. You had lunch with me and we played a wargame while your wife was at the golf course in a tournament. I do tell people the story when they ask how I got started in the business. Thanks for your great contribution to my success. By the way, a person just bought the entire Trident and Vanguard ranges from me.

GamesPoet Supporting Member of TMP19 Oct 2018 9:44 a.m. PST

Good news!

Glad someone is buying the MSC ranges and hope they make them available again soon!

And Doug, congrats on your retirement!

Ranger127525 Oct 2018 7:26 p.m. PST

Doug, Hope your retirement is everything you want it to be. Have fun. Still have, and enjoy playing with, all those Indian Mutiny figures you painted up for me so long ago. Congratulations!
