Aren't those Romans a bit late to be conquering Gaul? That quibble aside seems like a nice little starter set. |

What a load of old Gauls. |

Gaul needed conquering on a regular basis. Well, there were occasional revolts. Also riots, disturbances and a lot of grumbling. Good starter set. |

Guess they must be Asterix's tribe

The Gauls always said it wasn't ferocity or warrior skill that let the Romans defeat them. It was planning, and engineering -- the remorseless manner in which they laid out their sprues to overrun the nation. |

Oh darn. And I was finally going to be using money for random inconsequentials, like food. Been looking at Hail Caesar for a while – think this might be the tipping point. |

Pity the Lorica segmentata was not used by Julius's conquest of Gaul in 52-58BC, as it was not in full use till almost 100 years later
.warlord is re-writing history
again not a bad deal though all the same! |

"warlord is re-writing history
again" When did they last re-write history? Perhaps you could say Warlord are being a bit anachronistic with their title for this boxed set, but I think it is really just to give it an exciting name. Re-writing history though? By the way 'Lorica segmentata' is not even a genuine historical term. And it is generally accepted that plate armour was in use by the Roman army from about 9 AD onward. |

"warlord is re-writing history
again"When did they last re-write history? We can't tell, because they re-wrote the dates. |

But if they have re-written all of history
how do we know they have? |

I thought I read somewhere that Warload was going to be releasing a range of late Republican Romans, presumably in Lorica Hamata (if that is the correct term!) |

And it is generally accepted that plate armour was in use by the Roman army from about 9 AD onward perhaps, but not in full use accross the empire until 60AD at least, and the Kalkriese model is a lot different to the segmentata depicted on the warlord figures which I suspect is the Corbridge pattern not issued until 80AD, although it is missing some straps
. and the apron was not in use until the middle of the first century AD, so Warlords figures are out by 100 years still
