We've received the following press release from Robert Haworth of Stenhouse Game Productions:

Stenhouse Game Productions announces the publication of An Army of Professionals: American War of Independence Scenarios for Busy People (AOP). This 66-page scenario booklet was written for people who want to capture the essence of AWI combat in miniature, but who do not have:

  • Hours to spend preparing a scenario
  • A huge collection of AWI miniature figures
  • Unlimited space, or
  • More than four friends interested in playing

The eight, historically accurate and fully-playtested scenarios contained in the booklet are designed to employ just one 4' x 6' gaming table, and not more than 225 figures nor more than 20 combat units per side-indeed, a number of the scenarios call for half that. They can accommodate 1-2 players per side, plus optional umpire. AOP battles are thus potentially ideal for pick-up play at conventions and game clubs. Figure-to-man ratios are 1:10 for a few battles, 1:20 for most others. While AOP scenarios were written for use with 15mm figures, they are also playable in other scales given appropriate modifications.

Actions were drawn from each period of the war (Early and Late) and from both main theaters (Northern and Southern). The scenario format has been specially designed to make the process of comparing and selecting scenarios easy.

AOP scenarios are not system-specific: that is, they were not written with any governing set(s) of miniatures rules in mind. Players will thus have to adapt some of the concepts and quantities given in the book to the specific requirements of the rules set they prefer. In each case, however, enough information has been provided to make such conversion straightforward.

An Army of Professionals can be ordered for $13.95 USD (cash, check, or money order only), postpaid. Overseas orders inquire about shipping surcharge.
