We've received the following press release from John McEwan (shamrock@halcyon.com) of Reviresco:

After much struggling, I have finally gotten the Days of Empire 1/300 scale catalog on line. We have over 50 new items illustrated, along with amusing descriptions.

We also have the Days of Empire Beta Test Rules available for download. So if you are tired of trying to find OGRE stuff, maybe it's time for a change. We support our games. Check out our upgraded web page.

Days of Empire is to be a new game set in the Wars of Anarchy Period, about 150 years before the time of the Starguard. This is a time when the remaining population of the Earth (a large percentage of the citizens of the more advanced nations have left the Earth on Warp Ships in what is referred to as the First Exodus) is engaged in a terrible struggle to unify the Earth under the Terran Empire. There are basically three main players:

  1. The Terran Empire, consisting of most of the mericas, Japan, Australia & New Zealand, India and the scattered refugees from the destroyed British Isles.
  2. The Eastern Combine, consisting of most of the far eastern countries lead by China.
  3. The European League, consisting of most of the remaining bits and pieces of Europe.

It is the beginning of the times in which powerful continuous emission lasers and practical force screens are available, but in this period the power demands are so great that only the largest of land going vehicles can carry them. Therefore it is the period of the great landships.

UES Eribus, a mid sized landship of 43 feet wide, by 290
feet long.

The great tanks I sent you samples of are only the smallest of beginnings. These are the destroyers and light craft of a great land going navy. The land ships of this period were as large as battleships of former days. With in a month or so I will be releasing the Landships. These will be in the vicinity of 2" wide by 10 or 12" long. They are in the form of articulable, linked segments, constructed from a great many interchangeable pieces so that you can assemble several different Landships from available hulls, turrets, secondary weapons systems, etc. The landships will be available as soon as I can get them cataloged and priced out.

At our last check, the beta test rules ran 17 pages long, and included an introduction to the gameworld as well as rules for futuristic armored vehicles. Glancing through the pages, it looks like the game covers tracked, wheeled, hovercraft, aircraft, VTOL, and antigrav units; a range of targeting systems; smart rounds and intercept systems; eleven different weapon types (including lasers and particle beam cannons) and three classes of armor.
