Jason Wiebe, sculptor of the new Simian Empire figures for Black Orc Games, writes:

The Simian Army is one of the first five armies from the 100 Kingdoms miniatures wargame.

Gorla Praetorian

The heavy hitters of the army are the Gorlas, the eight-hundred-pound gorilla infantry. These are huge, both within the confines of the rules system, and when you see the miniatures in person. Gorlas occupy the ranks of spearman, legionairres, centurions and Praetorian guards.

Warlords and Senators are often the smaller of the simians, the Panzee elites.

The army is rounded out with giant war beast Howlers (babboon-like and feral), a Huge Giant Gor (almost 11 ounces of metal all in itself), squirrel monkey runners and a double headed mangonel catapult (with orangutan loaders) that will be available next month.

The prices are quite reasonable, especially for the size of these miniatures.

While I know the most about these units, because I sculpted them, all of the 100 Kingdoms stuff is worth checking out. Sandra Garrity's Panthera tribe, with some of the most beautiful cat sculpts you'll ever see....Drew Williams sculpted some amazing Insectoid warriors for the Hive, Kevin Contos, Bob Murch and others have produced some fantastic Dragons, Bushido and Kingdom of Avalon miniatures. The Dragons, by the way are large and innovative as well. I believe the Kingdom of Avalon and the Panthera tribe are the featured armies in the boxed set, and the rules are downloadable from the site.
