Uniforms of the Russian Army During the Years 1825-1855: Volume 8 – Guard Dragoons, Lancers, Hussars and Others

Uniforms of the Russian Army During the Years 1825-1855: Volume 8 – Guard Dragoons, Lancers, Hussars and Others Compiled at Saint Petersburg during the years from 1837 and 1851, the Historical Description of the Clothing and Arms of the Russian Army has had an enormous impact and great importance for the study on the history of Russian costume and uniformology development. This volume is related to the Russian Army during the Czar Nicolas Ist era, and are about the Guards dragoons, lancers, hussars and others in use from 1825 to 1855. The topics discussed start from the early czars until the late 19th Century. Our new edition has enriched the book with the plates – we revised and colored many of the images so far available just in black-and-white, as well we found some rare color plates with the collaboration of private collectors. $49.00 USD

Uniforms of French Armies: 1750-1870 – Volume 1

This book presents the development and complexity of France's uniforms, from the Louis XV era just to Second Empire of Napoleon III. All the subjects are seen through the eyes of Jacques Marie Gaston Onfroy de Breville, well known by the pen name Job after his initials (1858-1931), a great French artist. The series is published in three volumes that includes about 200 and more wonderful original illustrations of uniforms from the 18th Century to Napoleonic era and just to 1870 about. This book presents pictorial documentation of the appearance of French soldiers throughout the period with the support of short essays on France's military history. The particularly well-executed original Job's illustrations, slightly restored by our graphic artist are presented to the general public here for the first time. Job's plates shows how the Royal and (after) Imperial French Army, time and again, was a decisive factor in the story of Europe. $42.00 USD

There are 134 pages of text, which include copies of these notary contracts, and there are 48 color plates many of which illustrate the new information gleaned from these contracts. $40.00 USD

The Armies of Philip IV of Spain: 1621 – 1665

The Armies of Philip IV of Spain: 1621-1665 The reign of Philip IV of Spain is fascinating, as after a century of dominance in Europe, the Spanish hegemony was seriously challenged by France. At the beginning of Philip IV's reign, Spanish dominions were vast, not only in Europe but also in South America, Asia and Africa. The defense policy of such vast territories was established in the XVI Century and consisted of the deployment of two core armies, in the Low Countries and in north Italy, the maintenance of strategic garrisons, and of fleets in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean to control communications between all the territories of the monarchy. The different military formations were actively supported by a powerful diplomatic network among the European countries.

The aim of the book is to examine the armies and troops of Philip IV and particularly the famous Spanish Tercios deployed in north Europe, Italy and in the Iberian Peninsula. The book covers the organization and development of the Tercios, the tactics used, recruitment and the life of the ordinary soldiers. The development of the Spanish cavalry and its organization is also covered in depth, along with the financing of the army. The book also explores the impact of continuous fighting during a period of 44 years to keep the honor and reputation of the Spanish monarchy, as well as their territories intact, and how the army responded to these challenges. $45.00 USD
