WizKids have released the following announcement:

Shadowrun: Duels, The World's first Action Figure Game!

Shadowrun: Duels figures

Shadowrun Duels will do for action figures what Mage Knight did for collectable games. Amazingly sculpted and painted, each Shadowrunner is ready to play right out of the box. The gear that comes with each runner can be used by any other figure, allowing for almost unlimited play combinations. Each Shadowrun figure comes with everything you need to play, including instructions, a unique tape measure, and dice.

Each figure has been painstakingly sculpted by design studio Plan B to represent the various Shadowrun races. Figure articulation varies, but there are as many as 17 points to bend and rotate, allowing for dynamic battles!

What Happened at New York Toy Fair?

Shadowrun Duels was officially announced at Toy Fair in New York. Distributors and retailers got to experience Shadowrun in person, and a few took home promo versions. Two of the promo figures are from the first wave of Shadowrun: Kyushi and the Street Deacon. The other two, Agent Midnight and Kharkov, will be available in a later wave.

The World of Shadowrun

It's 2063 and the Megasprawl is a proving ground for Shadowrunners of all kinds. Magic has returned to the world, and elves, dwarfs, and orks have reawakened in a world run by megacorporations. Magic and cybertechnology are the weapons of choice for Shadowrunners - guns for hire who work for and against other corporations in a constant battle for the most valuable commodity: information.

Equipment is the Key

Shadowrunners come with weapons and gear tuned to their specific strengths and weaknesses. Players can mix and match gear to create customized figures for battles. Each piece of gear has dice associated with it. Die rolls determine attack success, and the more dice you roll, the better chance you have to hit. But watch out for Bad Karma: If you roll the same number on multiple dice, those dice are removed from the attack!

Each Shadowrunner has a limited number of slots to equip gear, and each piece of gear can take up any number of slots. Do you use your points to equip a medical kit for healing, or a knife for close-combat fighting? You decide before you start the game!

The Die Is Cast!

Dice separate the runners from the boys. Dice not only help determine if you hit or miss, but they also aid in movement, initiative, and defense. Dice management is important; you might equip enough gear to bring ten dice, but you can use only six at a time.

The Base of All Things

Each figure's unique base doubles as a storage unit for dice, spare gear, the tape measure, and instructions. The base splits in half; the bottom cup can be used to hold dice and gear during game play. The most important parts of the base, however, are the three combat dials, which represent different parts of the shadowrunner's body. Head (initiative and movement), Body (defense), and Weapon (attack), can all take damage separately of one another. When your Shadowrunner is hit, you choose where to apply damage. Too much damage in one area will take your Shadowrunner out of the game!

It's in Range

Each Shadowrunner has a unique tape measure, which is used for both movement and attacks. The attack range of each shadowrunner is broken up into three areas: close combat (yellow), short range (blue), and long range (green). When you equip your Shadowrunner, pay attention to your figure's ranges. Shadowrunners also receive bonuses for using weapons in their preferred range. So, if your Shadowrunner has a long range on its ruler, make sure to choose green dice to attack with. But don't neglect any one area - an astute Shadowrunner will be sure to exploit it.

Ten Thousand Leagues!

After the initial Shadowrun Duels release, registered WizKids venues will be able to host Shadowrun leagues. Leagues will receive kits with new unique gear that will enhance game play and figures. For more information, check with your favorite WizKids venue once Shadowrun releases.
