Rockets Red Glare is a two-player game-type simulation of the War of 1812 in North America on the strategic and operational levels. The entire war is covered in quarterly turns corresponding to seasons, with strategic level play, occurring on a map of the United States East & Gulf coasts, as well as some interior areas and the associated coastal seas. Operational level play is also in quarterly turns and takes place on a map of the Great Lakes border area between the United States and Canada. One player controls the forces of the United States, and a second player controls the forces of England and Canada. Each game turn is composed of both a strategic turn, played on the strategic U.S. map, followed by an operational turn, played on the operational Great Lakes map. Every Fall game turn a special inter-turn phase, is played after the conclusion of the operational turn to set up events for the upcoming year.

Rockets Red Glare is both a naval and a land combat game. The war itself was one of those strange affairs that started due to poor political decisions, and ended due to lack of militarily significant results and the slow realization that it had all been a mistake anyway. The long term results, however, were important. The United States ceased to be a breakaway English colony in the eyes of the world, and most particularly England. Canada was turned permanently away from the path of the American republic, to move slowly down its own course to independence. Rockets Red Glare depicts the military aspects of this key turning point in the history of North America. WWI:

Gallipoli Diary

The Great War was among the very pugnacious and inhumane battles in the history of humankind. Millions of people died and the disaster was complicated by the circumstance that these were all men who were very young. They both went through substantial damages and this battle is also noteworthy for being among in which innumerable new and dreadful weaponries were made known by both to kill one another.

Gallipoli Diary, created by John Graham Gillam, is some of the countless subjective accounts penned by the fighters of this blood-spattered war. Produced in 1918, when recollections of the battle were still new in the thoughts of those who had suffered from it, it is in reality a portion of history for contemporary book lovers who chance upon it almost 100 years after.

John Graham Gillam was a juvenile supply officer of the British Army. Although he did not take part of the real combat, his squadron was in command of safeguarding that the units got food and weaponries in their troughs. His narrations are exemplified by his necessity to bear witness to the incidents and document them as they transpired. The absolute devastation and pointlessness of the clash are what persist in the peruser's thoughts in the last pages, and up to the next generations perceive from the teachings of history, they are fated to reprise it. The Alexander Memoirs 1940-1945: Field Marshal Earl Alexander of Tunis

After his first meeting with General Alexander in August 1942, Lieutenant General Sir Brian Horrocks wrote that, by repute, he was Winston Churchill's fire brigade chief par excellence – the man who was always dispatched to retrieve the most desperate situations.

Churchill was indeed in need of a fire brigade chief. Allied forces had been chased back across the desert by Rommel. Alexander bought a new hope to the famed Desert Rats: he instilled them with his own confidence and thought of victory. Under his command, Montgomery was ready to fight and win the Battle of El Alamein. Even as his generals drove the enemy from North Africa, Alexander was planning far ahead for Sicily and Operation Husky, the first major seaborne invasion by either side during the war.

It was said that before El Alamein, the Allies never knew victory, and after El Alamein, they never knew defeat. Much of the credit for that belongs to Alexander. For decades, his contribution to the British efforts in both wars has been overlooked. Here, however, is a comprehensive edition of his personal and candid memoirs, which includes judgments on such men as Montgomery, Patton and Churchill. The Battle of Leyte Gulf: 23-26 October 1944

The last great naval battle of World War II, Leyte Gulf also is remembered as the biggest naval battle ever fought anywhere, and this book has been called the best account of it ever written. History of the RAF

The RAF was probably the most illustrious flying unit to participate in World War II. Its origins in the Royal Flying Corps gave the nascent Royal Air Force experience which it put to good use a generation later. From the early Spads and Sopwiths which fought against the Fokkers of the Richofen Squadron over France, pilots and the manufacturers of aircraft in Britain learned some valuable lessons. Although the RFC was a colorful adjunct to trench warfare in 1914-18, the use of aircraft in the next war was seen by most observers to be far from peripheral. The Spitfires and Hurricanes which were developed in the 1930s were to save Britain in her finest hour. The Lancaster bombers of the RAF were to make fiery infernos of the cities of Germany in the strategic bombing offensive which followed the Battle of Britain.

In World War II, the RAF distinguished itself in every theater of the conflict. This book and the technical qualities of British warplanes from World War I to the present day is told by Chaz Bowyer, whose 26-year career in the RAF and 13 books on the subject rank him among the foremost experts. Anzio is about the 1944 battle for Anzio, from the initial landings on 22nd January, to the failed German offensives, to eliminate the Allied beachhead by 1st of March.

The game features historical military units of regimental and brigade size, with some selected battalions, portrayed using rectangular counters. Oversized hexes allow for deployment of units on the map in defensive or attack frontages. Units deployed in a defensive frontage straddle, two hexes while those deployed in an attack frontage are placed within a single hex. Both players have army and divisional assets, plus Tactical Tokens at their disposal. Tactical Tokens and their use on a Combat Grid provide a unique battle resolution system that will keep players active in combat whether they are the attacker or defender. This unique combat system is the stand-out feature of the game, compelling players to think tactically during the combat.

Tables and tracks printed on the map sheet provide quick access to information needed and action outcomes. Random events are revealed during flight as are encounters with Luftwaffe and flak. The player is called upon to make life-and-death decisions every step of the way, in short, managing mayhem. Nothing in the game is scripted. Most missions play in five to 15 minutes.
