Just in time as it turned out.
In fact I think I'm right in saying that they didn't start converting Minies to breech loaders (the so called Tabatière system) until the advent of the Chassepot in order to equip such second line circus troops as the Garde Mobile and Garde Sedentaire. Actually I should say circus troops as the Garde Mobile fought heroically in a large number of engagements.
