Brigade Models announces:

This week, we have the third batch in our new collection of 6mm SF watercraft, with six new vessels (actually nine, as one is a pack of four). The previous two sets were very much military in nature – this time we have series of civilian cargo carriers (mostly).

Corner Shop

But we start with a late arrival – this is the missing piece from last week's release – it's a large corner shop that fits it nicely with the rest of our Agri Colony high street.

Sampans

Now onto the water, going from smallest to largest. Hammer's Slammers is very much Vietnam in space, and one of the iconic sights of the waterways in that conflict are the local sampans – small, flat-bottomed craft used for fishing and transport. We've made a set of four sampans in a near-future style with outboard motors. Two are open, the other two are covered – one with a simple shelter, the other with a more sophisticated cabin (we've painted this one in yellow as a water taxi).

Next on the size scale is a small patrol boat. Depending on armament, it could be a military river-patrol boat (like the Vietnam-era PBR), or a police or coast-guard patrol craft. You can see it keeping an eye on the sampans above.

We then have three similarly-sized cargo vessels. The smallest is a cargo lighter with a front cabin and open rear-cargo area. The simplest is the container barge, which can carry a variety of configurations of our 6mm cargo containers. Rather more advanced is the air-cushion lighter, which can haul heavy loads across rivers, swamps and open ground. All of these three could also be pressed into military service as auxiliary landing craft.

At the top end size-wise is a small cargo ship, represented by this rather battered and rusty example. It has space on deck for containers, and below deck, there's more cargo space in its holds. The decks have enough space to land a VTOL, or carry some guns or missiles.

Apart from the patrol boat, which has separate metal weapons, all are single-piece resin castings.
