PreDred's have always caught my attention.
Ironically 'early' WW II cruiser actions are my second interest in Naval gaming, before the carriers 'took control' of the seas.

So has any one played this rules set and if so 'How did they work for you?"

Wargame Vault announces the availability of:

Rise of the Battleships – Pre-dreadnought Naval Wargame Rules
Price: Free

Publisher: Rory Crabb

Rise of the Battleships is a set of naval wargame rules covering the later ironclad and pre-dreadnought era of naval warfare including the period from the 1870s to 1905.

The rules use a fairly simple system for determining the results of gunnery, making use of range estimation (to recreate the inaccuracy of the weapons of the period).

The rules are primarily designed for small fleet actions with up to ten ships per side. However, rules are included to play battles with much larger fleets.
