STL (3D Model) – $3.00 USD
This is an STL file for your 3Dprinter of the Mexican WWI-era aircraft TNCA C Microplano.
The TNCA C is a sad what-if story. The Microplano (not to body-shame her, but she was a bit on the small side) was meant to be Mexico's entry into home-produced quality aircraft. As a one-off prototype, she was just that.
Unfortunately for all involved, not less the good citizens of Mexico, a rather unexpected change in government put an end to the Microplano, as well as a good many lives.
Though small, the TNCA C was nobody's chump. Powered with an H.S. 180hp engine, her small but sturdy frame shot through the air at over 135mph, quite a good speed for the day. Her low wing-loading combined with light weight ensured she would be maneuverable and with a slow stall speed, making her a capable dogfighter against anything she was likely to go up against.
A downside was unstaggered wings, which produced unnecessary drag, and the possibility of being rather twitchy on the controls due to the very attributes that would have worked in her favor. You can't have everything.
The model is scaled at 1:100th but may be printed successfully at smaller or even larger scales (though with a corresponding loss of detail) depending on the quality of the printer and type of material.
The download also contains a 1:285 scale version.
