The Road to Yorktown: The French Campaigns in the American Revolution, 1780-1783, by Louis-Francois-Bertrand du Pont d'Aubevoye, comte de Lauberdiere

The Road to Yorktown: The French Campaigns in the American Revolution, 1780-1783, by Louis-Francois-Bertrand du Pont d'Aubevoye, comte de Lauberdiere. The fate of the American Revolution had yet to be decided when a remarkable 21-year-old Frenchman arrived in America. Louis-Francois-Bertrand, the Count of Lauberdiere, belonged to an old noble family that traced its heritage back to the Crusades. Moreover, he served as aide-de-camp to his uncle – General Rochambeau, the commander of all French forces in America. This is a translated edition of young Louis-Francois-Bertrand's diary that covers 1780-1783. He interacted with some of the Revolution's most important personalities (including George Washington and Lafayette), and was in the epicenter of many of the war's momentous events. His journal covers a host of topics in remarkable detail, including descriptions of the French army's camp in Newport, Rhode Island, the long march to Yorktown, the siege and capture, and a fascinating examination of the people and their distinctive colonial culture. Includes one chart and eight maps. $33.00 USD

The Rhode Island Brigade: The New England Convention's Revolutionary War Army, 1776-1780. Besides a history of the Brigade as a whole, this book discusses the lives of the men and their experiences and the impact that the war had on their families and communities. The numerous biographical sketches of the Brigade's soldiers and officers provide information later in life that add considerably to the story of the Brigade. This book also documents the many changes in leadership and personnel that occurred during the length of service of the Brigade. Includes illustrations, maps, a bibliography, and an index to full-names, ship names, places, and subjects. $36.00 USD

Gas Warfare in the First World War: Anti-Gas Protection and Gas Masks in the Armies of the German Empire, Austria-Hungary and Italy. Describes the development of WWI gas-defense equipment over time, including the first respirators borrowed from the sanitary sector to sophisticated protective masks with filters and their corresponding containers and special clothing for protection against blister-forming gases. Numerous official documents from the war years are accompanied by a number of important original photographs. Photographs of more than 200 original specimens preserved in private collections and museums illustrate the most important gas-defense equipment used during WWI by Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy. Also contains an historical overview of research in the field of poison gases by the three nations, information about the industries that took part in their production, and a chapter dedicated to the most important types of poison gas. $149.00 USD

British Fighter Aircraft in WWI: Design, Construction and Innovation

British Fighter Aircraft in WWI: Design, Construction and Innovation. Focuses on the British approach to fighter design, construction, and mass production. Each manufacturer and design team vied for the upper hand, and deftly and quickly appropriated good ideas from other companies – be they friend or foe. Developments in tactics and deployment also influenced design – from the early reconnaissance planes, to turn fighters, finally planes that relied upon formation tactics, speed and firepower. Advances were so great that the postwar industry seemed bland by comparison. Includes 250 photos, profiles and diagrams. $40.00 USD

OMM Discount 15%: Now $34.00 USD.

German Mountain Troops: 1942-45. When World War II began, the Wehrmacht had 15 mountain divisions and a multitude of small units, including some Austrian units that had been incorporated into the German army after the Anschluss. These mountain units would operate in hostile environments on all fronts during World War II. Due to their training, equipment and adaptability, the Gebirgstruppen would be deployed to fight in almost every theater. In the last years of the war, they would see action in North Africa, Italy, the Balkans, Norway, and Finland, and in the West as the Allies pushed German forces back toward Berlin. This book describes the uniform, equipment and operations of these specialist units during the later years of World War II. The text is complemented by period photographs taken at the front, including many color photographs, and modern photographs of uniform details. $25.00 USD
