Surprise Assault is a dinner-table-sized, two-team, 28mm skirmish for two to six players that creates the operational deception, background intel, and bloodletting of a desperate attack on a veritable fortress for the fantasy, science-fiction, pulp adventure, or superhero genres.
The real work is in the pre-game. After you read through the set-up and prep a deck of cards, your players will make a few decisions to allocate their forces, and then wade into battle and the hidden details will unfold.
We provide stats for our free QILS gaming system, and designer's notes to help you shift the scenario to another game if you want.
The PDF also has 24 pages of 2D and simple (no PhD in origami required) 3D terrain pieces, so you don't have to go out and get a whole bunch of stuff just to give the game a run.
And she's got legs on her, too. This was a monster to playtest since the operational deception in the set-up makes for tons of variants. Not only is this a good old standard, but you can play it hundreds of times and not have the same initial conditions. And that doesn't count the optional rule that throws a little chaos into the mission.
All that (but no bag of chips included) for $.99 USD!
