The Stillwater Compact
The machine screams. The earth breathes. Listen to the breathing.

In the broken world of Deadwake, most factions survive by mastering the ruins. The Stillwater Compact survives by refusing them.

Born from the collapse of Arcology Terra-Veridia and the horrors of the Feedback Cascade, the Stillwater Compact is a hidden nation of communes, farmers, scouts, Seers, and spiritual survivors who believe the old world was not merely destroyed by technology. It was infected by it. To them, the Cognitive Static is not a mystery to be mapped, a weapon to be used, or a god to be worshiped. It is the final death-scream of a civilization that mistook control for wisdom.

The Compact rejects "dead tech," corporate salvage, and the seductive logic of the machine. In their place, they offer clean water, handcraft, ritual, soil, memory, and the hard discipline of living lightly on a wounded earth.

But the Stillwater Compact is not passive.

Their Trailwardens know every canyon, spring, and animal path. Their Seers read sickness in the land long before instruments can detect it. Their Elders hold fragile communities together through famine, plague, doctrinal crisis, and the constant temptation to compromise with the wider wasteland. To outsiders, the Compact may seem primitive. To those who violate its sanctuaries, poison its rivers, or threaten its hidden gardens, it becomes a silent and lethal resistance.

The Stillwater Compact expands the Deadwake universe with a fully developed ecological, spiritual and survivalist faction built for roleplaying campaigns, narrative fiction, and tactical miniatures scenarios.

Inside this sourcebook, you will find:

  • The origins of the Compact, from pre-Cascade dissent to the legendary exodus from Terra-Veridia
  • The Compact's core doctrine, including its rejection of dead tech and belief in Harmonized lands
  • Detailed social roles, including Homesteaders, Trailwardens, Seers, Elders, and the Unrooted
  • Internal factions and ideological tensions, from isolationist purists to pragmatic Stonebinders
  • Rituals, taboos, symbols, myths, and daily practices that define Compact life
  • Notable communes, sacred sites, and ecological sanctuaries
  • Relations with major Deadwake factions, including the Wayfinders' Charter, CAD, Kenshin, Helios Foundation, the Choir, and the Null Guard
  • Adventure hooks, campaign conflicts, and scenario seeds centered on water rights, forbidden technology, failing crops, sacred lands, plague, Static storms, and ideological fracture
  • Gameplay-ready concepts for using the Compact in RPG sessions and miniatures engagements

This is a faction of quiet conviction, dangerous restraint, and impossible choices. The Stillwater Compact asks one of Deadwake's central questions in its purest form:

What if survival does not mean rebuilding the old world, but learning how to let it die?
