HMGS Mid-South writes:

John Hill, wargame designer, miniature rules author and member of the Wargaming Hall of Fame, will be the Guest of Honor at Nashcon 2014. John will be introducing his latest work, a soon-to-be-published set of grand-tactical American Civil War rules titled Across A Deadly Field, and hosting games in collaboration with some of the original playtesters.

Here's a description of one of the games planned for Nashcon:

Shiloh's East Flank

A beautiful game using John Hill's new regimental grand-tactical ACW system, Across A Deadly Field, will focus on the desperate struggle for Shiloh's east flank which the Confederate General James Chalmers referred to as "…a very stubborn fight". This large game will feature a gorgeous gameboard and beautifully painted 28mm figures. This scenario will also be published in one of the forthcoming ADF scenario books for gamers to use for their own games. The game will be presented by Cory Ring and John Hill.

John, founder of Conflict Games Company, is best known as the designer of the extremely popular Avalon Hill boardgame, Squad Leader. Among his many other game design credits are Verdun, Kasserine Pass, Overlord, Battle For Stalingrad, Tank Leader, Eastern Front Tank Leader and Hue. He also developed one of the most popular rulesets ever developed for regimental level American Civil War miniature gaming, the Johnny Reb series.

Across a Deadly Field

John's new rules will be published later this summer by Osprey Publishing. Osprey's extensive line of books on various military subjects has long been a wellspring of resource material for wargamers, military modelers and history buffs, alike.
